  • Nebraska Spring Match @ Koch Arena Set

Nebraska will play at Koch Arena on April 20 (Saturday), returning several trips the Shocker made to Nebraska for spring matches.“I have a feeling some Husker fans will show up,” Lamb said.

    Time to be determined.

Oh yeah I would like to see how we do on a more neutral floor. I'm sure I will be there.

Last spring when we scrimmaged KU little did we know it would be a prelude to a Sweet 16 run. Who knows, maybe deja vu in 2013.

The scrimmage against KU was held in the PHS Multi-Purpose gym and I was a little surprised at the low turnout of Shocker fans for that. I only went to the morning session and while it was fun to watch it was not a traditional match, but it was very fast-paced. I asked Lambo if they were going to have a more traditional match in the afternoon and he said he wasn't sure. That he and the KU coach would decided what they wanted to do over lunch. Not sure if anyone made it back for that afternoon session or not.

It will be interesting to see how they set this up with Nebraska this coming spring. In the past when we traveled to Nebraska I think they played traditional matches. In fact, I think Nebraska would hold these in different locales around the state so fans who don't normally get to see the Cornhuskers live can do so. I think one year, maybe last year we played Nebraska in Scottsbluff and they sold out a decent size arena for that. Of course, they may have done some other things in a separate session as well.

I'm hoping they play at least one traditional match in Koch Arena when Nebraska visits this spring. Sell tickets to that if they want.

Great opportunity to see an always TOP 5 program, even if it is the spring. Our fans should recognize this is an experience they should be a part of. Hope our marketing department does something with this. Great opportunity to continue taking us to the next level.

Our spring schedule is outstanding again. Fun to play with the kittens and hawks since they will not play us in season. Texas tournament is a good time to play more top teams.
          GO SHOX!

Nebraska will be LOADED for bear this spring. We'll do well to be competitive, and that's not a knock against us at all. Nebraska will be my preseason selection to win it all.

'72, I am confident there will be a traditional match played on Devlin Floor. In fact, I'll bet a LOT of money on it. Maybe it will be old school scoring, I don't know, but they will play in the gym and they will sell tickets. Expect a VERY large crowd of Husker fans.

What do I know? Not much. The Huskers dropped a 5 setter to Creighton and that's no Meagan Bobar for the Jays.

The match this Saturday starts at 5pm, and I really hope I will see many of you there. Not much else going on. Also the annual banquet is tonight, so again, hope to see you there.

Will be there Saturday. Hope we have a great turnout, but doesn't seem like this match has been promoted much so I'm not expecting much of a crowd.

Looking forward to seeing how the Shocks look sans Jackie and Emily.

                Go Shocks!

For some reason the wife isn't going to let us go, the kids prom date showing up at 5:30 and that takes priority.

I had hopes but our VB tournament doesn't start until noon. Probably won't make it.

The match was fairly close to what you would see during the season, ie they just weren't running girls in and out trying a variety of lineups to experiment, which I kind of expected.

I would guess that Nebraska had maybe 300 fans there, and maybe 1500 or so WSU fans.

They announced they would play for 2 hours, however many sets they could get in during the 2 hours.

WSU won the first set 25-22 closing fast late in the set. The Huskers blew our doors off taking a 13-3 lead in the 2nd and while the Shocks made it competitive, they lost 25-17. Set 3 to the Shocks 25-19 and set 4 to the Shocks 25-21.

They played out a 5th set, and after being tied at 10, Nebraska ended up winning the set 15-12.

Our middles were spectacular, and Katie Reilly is going to step into Emily's spot very nicely.

The quality of play was pretty darned good in my unprofessional opinion.
