  • Shocker VB v UTSA

The Shockers conclude their regular season hosting a match with UTSA on Sunday at 1 pm. The Roadrunners are 4-11 in the AAC, ahead of only Charlotte. UTSA did defeat Tulsa 3-1 Friday night.

    Prognostications are 91% and 3-0.

The Shockers are slotted for the fourth seed in the AAC Tournament, no matter the result of this match. They lose the tiebreaker against East Carolina, and they win the tiebreaker against Tulsa.

If I didn't know better, I'd say we tried to lose last night to get the 4 seed.

USF beat Rice, yes? That would make USF the 1, Rice the 2 and ECU the 3. Maybe we can't beat any of those teams, but I think I like our chances best against USF and give ECU a chance to knock out Rice.....but again, I doubt that was the plan.

I'm just searching for any excuse for that crappy performance last night.

And I'll say it again, no team should have to play at North Texas. They should have to play all road conference games until they stop playing in a not even good high school gym. It's ridiculous.

Hoping for a great match for Senior Day. Two of our seniors will (should) put their names on Shocker career best lists.

Izzi currently is at 10.09 assists/set. That is good enough for 5th all time. She could possibly move up. Michele Hallagin is 3rd with 10.17, Kori Rosenkranz is 4th with 10.15, Abby Harsh is currently 5th with 9.37. She probably will not make the all time assist list. She has 2411 so far as a Shocker. Chelsey Feekin is 10th with 2755 assists. If you add her assists at UC San Diego she has 3553 assists, that would be good enough for 6th on the Shocker assist list.

Swifty has 49 solo blocks, 369 block assists, and 418 total blocks. Janelle Watton is 10th in solo blocks with 55. She is currently 5th in block assists, Ashley Andrade is 4th with 381 block assists, Kristin Carr is 3rd with 419 block assists. Swifty is currently 6th in total blocks. Dawn Horn is 5th with 429, Ashley Andrade is 4th with 434. Morgan could move up any of these lists.

I don't know if our second loss to Rice took us out of contention for an at-large bid, but I'm sure losing to North Texas, with their 271 RPI, pretty much took away any chance. Right now, it looks like the 4 seed might be better than being seeded 3rd.

I thought I saw raised basketball hoops in the clips on X, does North Texas play their basketball games in that building? If not, why can't the volleyball team play in the building where the b-ball is played? Statbroadcast said the attendance was 304. I wonder what a sellout is. My high school gym (decades ago - it has been rebuilt at least once and I doubt they made it smaller), was bigger than that court. I would say it was also nicer, but I have never been to a North Texas home game.

Not very good vball. UTSA, 4-11 in conference, sticking it to the Shocks handily.

Poor ending, to say the least.

If the schedule holds and the 4-5 game is in the afternoon, it will be friends and family only, and the way we finished this weekend, if nothing changes, a Tulsa sweep. Sad.
