Agreed. I didn't look good at all. Hope against hope there's no structural damage, but you have to think she's going to need some time off, at an absolute minimum.

      NCAA RPI

      30 Rice
      63 Tulsa
      64 Shockers
      66 South Florida
      etc.

and Pablo with last week's value in parentheses.

      6040 (5920) Rice
      5745 (5420) South Florida
      5650 (5650) Tulsa
      5525 (5570) Shockers

      The projected season-ending RPI are:

      29 Rice
      61 South Florida
      64 Shockers
      79 Tulsa

Rice is in the NCAA Tournament. Everyone else has to win the AAC Tournament to be the AQ. In other words, nothing has changed in the last few weeks.

Here is the match point from the Shocks win over FAU in case you have not seen it or want to watch it again:

My player of the point is Katie G. Two great digs to keep the point alive and then a perfect pass on the free ball leading to the Shockers finally putting it away.

There were no additional awards for the Shockers this week, although USF had two Honorable Mentions. I wonder how that happened?

            USF beat Rice 3-0

            21 14 23

USF started off the first set with a block and three straight aces. Maria Clara Andrade had 10 kills in the first set. She finished with 21 kills. #21 Nayia Sawtelle, who ate us up, had 19 kills. They had 40 of the 49 USF kills. Rice only managed 34 kills as a team.

USF looks like they will be the team to beat in the AAC tourney.

In her first 13 matches as a Shocker Alyssa hit 92-52-279 = .179 with a kill rate of 33.0% and an error rare of 18.6%.

In her last 5 matches Alyssa hit 72-19-175 = .303 with a kill rate of 41.1% and an error rate of 10.9%. If she can sustain these kind of numbers she indeed will be great.

Nothing has changed in the last few years.

Wichita State is firmly entrenched as a mediocre team capable of beating other teams that also do not compete in the NCAA tournament.

When it comes to truly competing as an NCAA tournament caliber program, well, Chris and Shannon sure have done a lot of good things over the last 25years. Unfortunately, NCAA quality volleyball left the building almost a decade ago now.

                Whoop Whoop!

Is this product good enough for zero pressure to be applied to Chris Lamb.

Is the NCAA tournament NOT the goal anymore?

Who Is responsible for the clear lack of NCAA Tournament talent on the roster.

Is it the same guy that took all the credit for his COY?

Or are his assistant coaches just not as good as the ones that were present when NCAA tournament volleyball was played at Koch arena?

Anything on the bench appear capable of replacing Izzy and Morgan? Or we stepping down one more rung next season.

Just asking. Not expecting a coherent response.

That would be interesting to know. Nevertheless I just don't see Wichita State being a major player in this new talent-for-sale era. Not just in volleyball but across the board. I think ADKS pretty much acknowledges that in his comments and in his focus on providing a holistic experience and a nurturing environment for student athletes and taking that in account in hiring coaches. But that is only going take you so far. WSU won't be at the bottom of the barrel but they won't be able to keep up with those with much deeper pockets.

The WSU-ICAA annual financial statements for fiscal year ended June 30, 2024 should be out any time. In fact, they are a little later than customary. For the 8 years from 2014 through 2021 those financial were out by late September. In 2022, that slipped to October 4th and in 2023 it slipped further to October 10th. We are a week past that this year and still waiting. Could be a number of reasons for this but generally that would not include a nice rosy looking set of financials. Perhaps this is just a reflection of working with new AD leadership the past few years. Looking forward to seeing what those look like but recent years have not painted a pretty picture for the athletic department's finances.

Hard to say where collegiate athletics are heading over the next 5 to 10 years but major changes and upheavals certainly seem possible. How that will impact Wichita State and how they will fit in remains to be seen.

With Sophia and Brylee finishing their careers, a better chance to qualify for the Dance may have been enough.
