Tonight is a great opportunity to see if the "I Hate/Dislike Creighton" attitude is a commonly held feeling among Shocker fans or is simply message board talk by a small slice of the fan base.
Shocks drew a very nice crowd of 3,825 for the MSU match last Friday. That crowd was also one of the more energetic and vocal crowds we've enjoyed for a WSU VB match. Would be great if we cold match that crowd in size and intensity for the BlueJays tonight.
The #23 ranked BlueJays, with only one MVC loss, have clinched a tie for the regular season Championship and have the #1 seed in the MVC Tournament locked up. The Shocks are pretty much locked into 3rd place and the #3 seed. So there the match doesn't mean a whole lot as far as the conference goes. However, a win would go a long, long way towards a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the Shocks if it comes to that (which it probably will). However, none of this should make any difference to those who just can't stand Creighton. I trust those folks will be in attendance regardless of the importance of the match.
Sounds like Sam Sanders may play tonight but that will be a match time decision again and how effective she can be after missing a couple of weeks of practice is an unknown. My guess is we will see Katie Reilly in the starting lineup again.
This will be tough one. Creighton, lead by probably MVC POY Meaghan Bober at the setter position, is a very good volleyball team this year. They are a physical team that plays very clean volleyball. It will not be an easy chore for the Shocks to pull off the upset, but it is not an impossible task either.
Go Shocks!
