    Set Three

    5-2, then 5-5, then sideouts.

15-15. Mini-runs of three points by IU and then the Shocks in there.

18-16 after two service aces by Izzi. TO Indiana.

20-17 after a service ace by Reagan and the last TO by the Hoosiers.

Ace by Reagan and two kills by Emerson. 23-17.

    23-19 and a Shocker TO.

23-21 and the last Shocker TO. Annalie was the victim of two service aces in this run by IU.

    Yea!! Service error. 24-21.

25-21 on a kill by Brooklyn.

.235 v .200 for the set. Brooklyn with eight and Morgan and Alyssa with seven are the kill leaders for the Shocks.

      Set Four

      1-5 is an ugly start.

      6-11 and a Shocker TO.

      9-17 and another TO.

12-25. Move along. Nothing to see here.

      .200 v .462 for the set.

Felt like a throwaway set, knowing they'd have to win in 5. Hope they don't start as poorly as set 4, with service errors etc or they won't ever recover.

Big 5th set here. Chance for a real quality win that could help at the end of the season.

Not for nothing, but having to play KSU-Georgia about 2 hours after this is done is going to be a big ask.

            Set Five

At least 2-0 is a better start. Kills by Sarah and Emerson.

Sideouts with the Shocks tacking on an extra point. 6-3.

Ack! Six in a row by IU. 6-9.

Trading sideouts and running out of time. 10-12.

Shocks get two in a row and Hoosiers take a TO. 11-12. Need one more point to close the gap and prevent a sideout win.

            Nope. 13-15 and 2-3.

            .234 v .275 for the match. Eight blocks v nine. Service E/A are 6/8 and 13/9.

            Morgan 14-3-28 for .393, Alyssa 10-6-30 for .133, Brooklyn 9-3-21 for .286, and Emerson 8-3-29 for .172.

6 point run was the killer. Dang it.

12-10 Shocks trying to stay in it.

Morgan gets a kill, 12-11 IU timeout Hoosiers.

              HUGE point upcoming.

                Kill IU 13-11

                Kill Stout 13-12.

                Kill IU 14-12.

                Kill Stout 14-13.

Shocks save 1 match point. Now have to score serving.

                15-13. IU wins 3-2.

Hell of a match. Hopefully the ladies can build on a good performance.

As discussed, we just aren't getting enough scoring on the pins. Brooklyn and Alyssa combined for 8 kills in set 1, and 10 in the next 4 sets combined.

Won the serve game, held our own blocking. Just can't score enough at a high level. Going to need Sara to score more as well.

Am I the only one that felt like Lambo was saying Maddie getting hurt was a real blow to our plans this fall? I've been expecting her to do big things, but that's just me being a fan so I could have misread his comments.

I guess I got what I was hoping, at a minimum, to see. A Shocker loss but a competitive effort. But a win would have been a nice surprise and the Shocks nearly pulled it off. So I got a little more than that. A close loss and a very competitive effort. So far I like what the Shocks have brought to the table, especially after what I saw at the K-State exhibition.

Now can the Shocks recover physically and avoid a mental letdown vs Kennesaw State. Far from a certainty.

No, you aren't the only one. I think that threw a big wrench into the works. Not only the injury but the initial misdiagnosis of the injury. Not sure when Maddie might be available at close to full speed but, hopefully, that will give the Shocks a scoring boost, although no guarantee that will happen as Maddie is a bit of an unknown commodity as well, at least in terms of how she will perform under the lights, especially following an injury.

                        Match Three at Kennesaw State

                        Set One

I can play with this for an hour or so of the match, then I have to leave for the duration. At least, I hope the Shockers have won before I get back. Several of you will have the Plus, so what I do here may not matter much. :)

                        Same starters.

3-0 and 6-2 for the early lead.

Grace Hett is an early sub in the rotation. It's probably only to serve as Morgan is in after the serve by Grace.

11-6 and a TO for Kennesaw.

A reception error by Alyssa. Is she in the back row rather than Emerson?

                        12-8 and a Shocker TO.

12-12. Block. two attack errors, and a reception error.

Previously unlisted early points are now being included. I do not trust the LS score.

20-25 is what I see - from 20-20 at that.

                        .069 v .091.

I will have to leave shortly, so no more. I am done for the day?

Not going to say anything negative about our serve/receive.

Impressive come from behind W. 3-2.

Some good things happened, mostly gutting it up playing 2 games and 5 sets in both games in one day.

Lambo took Emerson out of the 6 rotation (mostly) starting part way thru the 4th set. That actually made a big difference, imo.

Was not able to watch the match but will later. I was not surprised that KSU-Georgia gave the Shocks a tough match. For one thing the Shocks were coming off a tough 5 set loss to Indiana a couple of hours earlier and KSU-G who had not really scouted the Shocks before their Friday match (according to the KSU-G announcers) had now had 2 good looks at the Shocks to work with.

Did not look good for the Shocks after going down in the 1st to sets but they found enough to take a reverse sweep 20-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-17 and 15-12. Kudos to the Shocks for toughing this one out. The legs had to be a bit weary those final 3 sets. The Shocks trailed 10-11 before closing out the math on a 5-1 run.

This come from behind win will really make the trip home and the Shocks' Labor Day much more pleasant.

Next couple of weeks will be a challenge. Kansas, Arkansas, Little Rock, Arizona State, Long Beach State and Nebraska.

                                17-7-31 = .323; .548 Kill%; Error rate a little high at 22.6%. Plus 4 block assists.

Brooklyn hasn't played a lot of VB at the D-I level. Redshirted in 2021 at D-II Colorado-Mesa and only played in 47 sets at Colorado-Mesa in 2022. Only played in 8 sets over 4 matches last year behind Sophia Rohling. So really nice to see Brooklyn progressing nicely.
