Charlotte is #2 in the Athens Regional. Georgia, the #11 National Seed, is the host.
Florida Atlantic is #3 in the Gainesville Regional. Florida hosts as the #4 National Seed.
The top eight National Seeds in order are Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Missouri, and Stanford. If they win their Regionals, they will host a Super Regional.
UCF, an AAC alum, is in the Tallahassee Regional hosted by #15 Florida State.
Grand Canyon, CC's previous team, is #4 in the Los Angeles Regional where UCLA is the #6 National Seed. ESPN showed all but one or two of the sixty-four team celebrations. GC is the only one that did not celebrate at all! Doubtless they expected a higher seed in some pod. A "geography assignment", something the Shockers have been victims of?
At the end of the bracket presentation, the last four teams in and the first four out were given. The Shockers were fourth of the first four out! That is certainly not their goal each season, but that still indicates a very nice season.Last edited by flyingMoose; May 12, 2024, 08:20 PM.

I found the reveal of the final team in the bracket to be mildly hilarious. Beth Mowin tried to build some suspense. Who's it going to be?
It's Texas State! Of course it is! They are the AQ from their conference, and their name has not been announced yet. They are the only possible team.

NISC Postseason Event Canceled in 2024
The 2024 D-I National Invitational Softball Championship, scheduled to be played in Fort Collins, Colo., on May 16-19, 2024 at the headquarters facility of Triple Crown Sports has been canceled. The 2024 event lacked sufficient team demand to move forward.
The inaugural Postseason NISC was held in 2017 and won by Liberty University. Other past champions are Loyola Marymount, UT Arlington, Baylor and Iowa. More than 70 D-I institutions have participated during that time.
The current financial structure behind NCAA women’s sports and in particular softball does not adequately provide the financial means for the teams to cover their portion of this event. Over the past seven years, Triple Crown has restructured the NISC format, enhanced its permanent facility to better host the event and subsidized over $800,000 in expenses and travel for teams to attend the tournament. The long-term future of the NISC is in question at this time.

Friday at the Regionals
Liberty 6-3 Charlotte
Gress with the change-up was the starter for the 49ers and lasted until the fourth inning.
Florida Atlantic 0-1 South Alabama
Lone run scored in the bottom of the sixth.
Of note, a National Seed losing in the First Round -
Omaha 3-1(9) #7 Missouri
Mizzou had to score in the sixth to send the game to extras. Omaha came out of the elimination bracket to win the Summit Conference Tournament and the AQ. Hear, hear for double-elimination tournaments! :)Last edited by flyingMoose; May 18, 2024, 09:06 PM.

Saturday at the Regionals
Charlotte 3-0 UNC-Wilmington
A three-hitter by Barefoot.
Charlotte 0-5 #11 Georgia (a loser to Liberty)
The 49ers are eliminated.
Florida Gulf Coast 3-2 Florida Atlantic
A run in the seventh for the Owls was not enough. They are eliminated.
Washington 2-3 Omaha
The Mavericks roll on! They are the #4 seed at the Columbia Regional and are the lone undefeated team at the Regional.Last edited by flyingMoose; May 18, 2024, 09:05 PM.

Tiare Jennings from OU hit a couple home runs over the weekend to pass Addie on the all-time list.
Addie sits alone at #5 all-time with 93 bombs. Still really freaking cool! I hope that can stand for a good long while.78-65
