FAU served incredibly hard but still had a 1/1 ratio (9/9) but that didn't tell the entire story. They often times started the point getting WSU out of system. This was one of the few times that WSU probably needed to return to a more aggressive serving game because in system, FAU has too much firepower. If Rosado and Beckham (Robine is no slouch on the right either) return, there's not much hope for the rest of the league. Rosado was at SFA to start her career, but I'm certain the NCAA doesn't care about multiple volleyball transfers. Ari isn't Jordan Thompson, yet, but she's got 2 years to develop and she's an elite athlete.

FAU isn't the best defensive team by any stretch, but they made enough really good plays last night to win. I don't fault our girls....without Brylee we're just overmatched.

Almost forgot, I counted at least 7 plays where FAU overpassed, WSU had a chance to dump or spike down the overpass (admittedly, several were 60-40 type balls at the net) and ended up losing almost all (if not all) of the points. You just have to be better, smarter, in those situations, especially against a team with that kind of fire power. Just swinging hard to swing hard isn't going to get it done and those points were absolute killers last night.

Shocks score the final 4 points on a Sophia kill, a Natalie/Webby block and 2 Memphis attack errors to escape with an unexpectedly tough 25-14, 22-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-11 win.

The hole on the left side due to Brylee's absence seemed to be a real issue this weekend. Emerson was pretty good this weekend but Ba and Morgan provided very little production when Emerson rotated to the back row.

The Shocks outhit Memphis .274 to .206 but both teams were not very good in the deciding 5th set. The Shocks were 5-3-17 = .118 with Memphis at 6-7-18 = -.056

Natalie was a little below her normal performance at 12-4-28 =.286 but Swifty made up for it hitting 17-1-32 = .500.

Sophia at 14-6-28 = .286 and Emerson at 13-3-41 = .244 were solid. However, Ba and Webby only managed to hit a combined 5-4-25 = .040.

For the weekend Ba and Morgan hit 12-10-52 = .038.

Shocks neet to bet back home and regroup although other than Brylee getting healthy not sure they have a lot of good options for half of the left side rotations.

I wonder if Swifty was fired up at any point during this match.

Did not get to watch, just went off stats.

First set was close, 14-12, until the Shockers pulled away at the end of the set to win 25-14. The Shockers hit .500 (15 1 28). Memphis hit .100 (10 7 30). Natalie was perfect this set having 4 kills on 4 attempts. Emmerson and Sophia had 3 kills each. Morgan and Morgan had 2 kills each and Izzi added 1.

Don't know what happened in set 2. If Swifty has 8 kills, one would think that the Shockers would have won. The three service errors and giving up 2 aces didn't help. Sophia had 3 kills, Frosty-2, and Emmerson-1. Shockers hit .133 (14 8 45) to Memphis's .140 (12 6 43). Shockers got no blocks. Memphis 25-22

Set 3 was pretty tight. Started well, but Memphis just kept hanging around. Emerson lead in kills this set with 6, Sophia-4, Swifty-2, Frosty-2, Ba-2. No blocks this set. Shockers hit .424 (16 2 32) to Memphis's .375 (16 4 32). Swifty got the lone Shocker ace to to make it 25-24. After a side out, back-to-back Emerson kills had WSU winning 27-25. Memphis had 5 aces. The also had 6 service errors.

Memphis was in control for most of the 4th set. The Shockers dropped this stinker of a set 19-25. Frosty had 4 kills, Swifty-3, Emmerson, Sophia, Izzi-2, Ba-1. Shockers hit .222 (14 4 45). Memphis hit .333 (18 4 42). Shockers had no aces or service errors. Memphis had 2 aces and 1 service error.

On to set 5. Looked good, then bad, the good, then bad, then the Shockers at 11-11 scored 4 straight points, the last two coming on Memphis errors. Shockers hit .188 (5 3 17). Memphis hit -.056 (6 7 18). Izzi got one ace and there were no service errors for the Shockers. Memphis had 2 aces but also had 2 service errors. Of the 5 Shocker kills, Swifty and Sophia both got 2, Emerson got 1.

Four Shockers had double digit digs, Emerson(14), Gabi(14), Annalie(12), and Izzi(10). Weber just missed out with 9 digs, Frosty and Swifty each had 2 digs.

                Swifty had a heck of a game. She hit .500 (17 1 32) with 4 block assists. Sophia was .286 (14 6 28) with a solo block and 1 BA. Frosty also hit .268 (12 4 28) with 2 BA. Emerson hit .244 (13 3 41) with 3 BA. Izzi was .250 (3 0 12). Ba was .091 (3 2 11). MorganW hit .000(2 2 14).

Izzi finished with 50 assists. Gabi had 5 assists.

                For the match:
                Shockers 64 18 168 .274
                Memphis 62 28 165 .206

Memphis got 12 total aces, sure they got 13 service errors, but 12 aces is kinda troubling. We must have had a lot of trouble with the serve. Racked up a bunch of Blocking Errors. Again.

Actually I thought Swifty was more subdued than normal in this match until maybe the final set. Memphis was scrappy as hell and they were flat attacking their serves. Had the Shockers out of system a lot. Memphis seemed to be much more animated than the Shocks were and they played like it meant more to them than it did to us. Lucky to get out of there with a W.
