  • 2012 Schedule

I'm impatiently awaiting the release of the 2012 Schedule. I know we're hosting a tournament and going to one at SMU. Did we get invited to another tournament?

The Shockers host a tournament from Thursday, August 30, through Sunday, September 2. Cribbed from the other teams' Web sites, I believe the schedule to be as below.

Thursday, 7pm: Shockers v Colorado State

Friday, 5pm: Colorado State v Tennessee
    Friday, 7pm: Shockers v BYU

Saturday, 12pm: Colorado State v BYU
    Saturday, 7pm: Tennessee v BYU

    Sunday, 2pm: Shockers v Tennessee

This will be the second weekend of tournaments for these teams.

That is a very high quality tournament Lambo has put together. CSU is a perenially strong VB program and was in the NCAA Tournament last year. I believe Tennessee was the SEC Champion last year and BYU is usually very solid.

I believe we will be hosting Oklahoma in a single match this year also so their will be some very high level and competitive volleyball to partake in at Koch Arena this fall.

Some great opportunities for the Shocks to build an NCAA at-large resume.

        Thursday, 7pm: Shockers v SMU
        Friday, 5pm: Shockers v Auburn
Saturday, 12pm: Shockers v Texas State

Looks like the OU match is in Norman, early start at 6:00 so it might make a good road trip.

My bad. I was going by what Paul Suellentrop reported on back in May:

The Shockers will travel to SMU for a tournament, also facing Auburn and Texas State. Oklahoma comes to Koch Arena for a mid-week match.
However, I see that according to OU's web site it is at Norman which makes sense considering the Sooners came to Koch Arena last year. I really like the OU coach for his willingness to play the Shocks on a regular basis. Seems like a good guy (and the story of him losing his young son a couple of years ago was just heartbreaking).

Lambo has often lauded Coach Restrepo for his willingness to play us on an annual basis, for recognizing the benefit to both programs. Would that other coaches in the area had the same POV. Sigh.

I'm making plans for a trip to Dallas as well -- maybe I can make the mid-week trip to Norman also. So, I'm thinking maybe there is another trip to a tournament scheduled for the weekend of August 24 as other teams have games scheduled that weekend. Does anyone have any insight??

It is about a month before the beginning of the volleyball season. I don't understand why goshockers still fails to have a posted schedule.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I have come to the conclusion that our SIO is all too often "not on top of it" - and not just with regard to volleyball. :(

I don't know what the hang up is but WSU always seems to be the last to post their schedule. That said, if you are so motivated you can go to all the other MVC websites and see when we play them. Kinda a silly that a fan has to go to all that trouble to support their own team.
