Lulu who was playing in shallow left center made a nice diving catch to retire ECU's 1st batter of the game.

On the double play to end the 1st I don't think Addie was running until the ball was hit. Lulu hit the ball very to the warning track at the W on Wichita in rightcenter but the CF made a nice running catch, spun and threw to the shortstop at 2nd base who relayed to 1st to get Addie for the 8-6-3 double play. I could not tell exactly how far Addie had gotten to but it may have been a step or two beyond 2nd base. I think Addie simply thought that the ball was not going to be caught.

A little bit of an unusual 3-4-3 put out by the Shocks to open the 2nd inning. Another nice 1-6-3 play by Sydney to end the 2nd inning. The Shocks haver their deflection game working for them today.

Lainee hit the ball well to left with 2 outs in the 2nd but the wind just ate it up. It appear no money in the air to the left side today.

Syd with another one of her web gems. With 1 on and one out. Syd dives up the middle to snag a solid hit ground ball ticketed for center then flipped from her prone position to Sami for the force at 2nd.

Syd tried to challenge the wind with 1 out in the 3rd but her well hit drive to left center lost that battle and the leftfield was able to run it down.

Lainee decides to use the wind and slices an RBI double to the right center wall in the bottom of the 4th.

Zoe's home rund to straight away center bounced off the top of the fence and out. Really good to haver her back in the lineup.

Taylor challenges the wind and bangs one off the wall in left center on a veryl well struck line drive for a 2-out double in teh 5th, just missing a homer and moving Lolo to 3rd. After a walk to Lainee to load the bases Krystin guides a seeing eye roller through the right side for the Shocks final run...

Sami robbed of an RBI single as she line one up the middle but it was head high on the glove side of the pticher and she was able to snag it to end the 6th inning.

Lulu just about bookended the game with a very nice sliding basket catch of a shallow fly to left center that the wind was pushing back towards the infield for the 2nd out of the 7th inning.

Three catches by Addison in the Pirate fifth. Still only one hit and no walks from Alex. With one out, Zoe homers to extend the Shocker lead. Lolo walks and with two outs, Taylor doubles her to third. A walk to Lainee loads 'em up. Krystin singles to drive in one more, and Payton Hudson is in to get the last out of the inning. 4-0 after five.

Alex yields her second single with two outs in the sixth but nothing more. With two outs in the bottom half, Zoe and Lolo single, but Sami lines out. Shockers take a 4-0 lead to the seventh.

A single opens the seventh for ECU. Three outs quickly follow.

A three-hit shutout by Alex is the story of this game. She had three strikeouts and no walks.

Lolo had three singles and Zoe had two hits including her thirteenth homer.

ECU appears to be a good ptiching/weak hitting team.

Sydney in a mini slump. 1-8 in the series and was up with the bases loaded twice in this game and was unable to deliver So she is human after all.

Got to give some of the credit to that to the ECU pitching. They have been pretty good. But if Sydney is going to have a little slump good to do it now and get it out of the way especially since the Shocks are still winning.

Alex continues to punch abover her weight class as a freshman. I bet teams play the following song after Alex finishes with them:

Hard to say, unless you know something the rest of us don't. She looked pretty relaxed and confortable in the dugout. No slings or any visible evidence of any type of brace. Hoepfully, it proves to be relatively minor.

Coop looked good in the top of the 1st. Two swinging strikeouts and a lazy fly ball to Tayor in RF.

Fantastic bunt by LuLu caught the D off guard to load the bases. Zoe gets a foul ball SAC to score Syd. All runners advanced. LoLo pops up to SS for out 2. Sami gets plunked to load the busses for Taylor. Walk. 2-0. Lainee goes down swinging to end the 1st.

Fly ball to LuLu. Ball back to Coop. Solo shot line drive over the RF wall. 2-1 with 2 outs. Coop fights back from 3-0 to get the K.

Nelson lined the first pitch right at the CF. Syd gets on with a bunt but it may be an error. Catcher tries to pick Syd off first and the ball goes into RF so she advances to 2nd. Addies lines an RBI double to LC. 3-1. WP way over the catcher moves Addie to 3rd. LuLu crushes an RBI triple off the base of the RF fence. 4-1. Zoe strikes out swinging at a pitch that was way up. LoLo works a walk. Pitching change. Looks like Hatch may have had a blister issue or something on her index finger. Lauren's triple set a new team record at 24. She has 7 of them. Sami grounds out to SS to end the 2nd.

Syd with another web gem laying out to snag a lined shot to her right. Grounder fielded by Nelson is out number 2. A hard shot at McKinney gets through for a hit. Next batter grounds out to Syd.

Taylor rips a single up the middle. Lainee walks on four pitches. Nelson lays down the sac bunt to move the runners up. Syd lines out to 2nd and Taylor gets doubled off of 3rd to end the inning. To the fourth

Coop walks the leadoff. She's been struggling with the zone since the HR. And Coach B just pulled her. Alex enters the chat. And a 5-4-3 DP followed by a lazy flyback to Lucas and we head to the bottom of 4.

Addie pops out to 2B. Lucas flies out to LF. Zoe goes down swinging at three straight pitches. To the fifth

Alex strikes out the first batter looking. She follows that up with a four pitch walk. Another lazy fly ball to Lucas for out number 2. Out number 3 comes on a swinging K.

Thankfully ECU doesn't have the bats to take advantage... But we are leaving way too many on base.

Mills draws a leadoff walk. Hoekstra in to run. Sami flies out to the track in CF. Taylor reaches on a FC and advances on a hard single up the middle by Lainee. Nelson ends the inning on a grounder to SS who gets Taylor at 3rd. To the 6th

Inning starts with a groundball single up the middle. Sharp hit single to RF puts runners at 1st and 2nd. Strikeout looking. A long AB ends on a shallow flyball to Addie. Deep fly to Taylor ends the threat.

Syd leads off with two failed bunt attempts then lines a double off the wall in RF. Addie with an RBI double with a lined shot to LC. LuLu flies out to LF. Zoe with an RBI double to RC. LoLo grounds out weakly to 3rd. Sami hits a grounder to SS. SS makes a poor throw that gets by first. Sami takes a step towards 2nd but sees the ball bounced right back towards to bag and gets tagged out. But during that, Zoe scored.

7-1 to the 7th we go.

After a long AB, Sami catches a fly ball in shallow CF for out number 1. Another long AB ends with Syd making a nice backhand stop and strong throw to first. Two down. Alex ends the game with another K looking.

Alex has had a hell of a week. I believe she has 19 IP and given up 1 ER.
