Nat appears no worse for the wear today and the Shocks, while not great, have been very efficient so far. They hit .381 in the first set and a blistering .415 in set 2 but had to pull away late in both to take a 2-0 lead.

The Shocks lost the 3rd set 25-27. Losing 3rd sets after taking 2-0 leads seems to be becoming a habit for this team. But they bounced back to win the 4th set 25-16 which is also part of the same habit. So all-in-all not really that bad of a habit.

Good to see Natalie was able to go all 4 sets. Not at her best but still pretty solid at 12-4-28 = 348.

Brylee finished of her regular seasin hitting 21-3-49 = .367 to bounce back from her 9-10-42 = .042 against SMU. However, Brylee did have 4 service errors today. As a team the Shockers had 14 service errors vs 5 aces compared to 5 and 5 for Memphis. A 9 point adantage for Memphai there.

Morgan Stout finished her regular season on a high note hitting 9-2-18 = .389 plus 2 block solos and 4 block assists.

The Shocks had 66 kills to 46 for Memphis to more than offest Memphis' advantage at the service line. Kayce assisted on 55 of the Shockers 66 kils, The 16.5 kills per set for the Shcoks and the 13.75 assists per set for Kayce in this match are excellent numbers.

The Shocks also won the batte of digs, a strenght of this Memphis team, 83-71. Kayce had 19, Morgan 17, Lily 15, Lara 14 and Brylee 33.

The Shocks finish the season 18-12 overall and 13-6 in AAC play (probably would have been 19-12 and 14-6 if they had been able to play USF twice).and I presume will be playing in the NIVC Tournament. A pretty solid season for the Shocks and I thought they played there best volleyball over the last month of the season.

I had these numbers from the Statbroadcast too, but they must have corrected something. If you go to the stats on the Shockers webpage, it looks like they took a kill from Brylee and added one to Natalie's numbers. Brylee was 20-3-48 for .354 and Natalie was 13-4-24 for .375. That gives Natalie a .381 hitting percentage for the year. If the Shockers go to the NIVC, I hope she gets a chance to increase these numbers. as It sits now, .381 is a Shocker all time top 10 season hitting percentage.

Good win. Glad that Natalie was back on the court. I hope it becomes the normal to have 3, or more, Shockers with double digit kills. Both Morgans were 1 kill away from making it five Shockers with double digit kills.

I like that our littles/serving specialists are getting aces. Lily had 2, Katie and Lara both had aces. I think that Lara is doing pretty good considering she didn't serve before she came to play for with the Shockers. Maybe she can develop a top spin jump serve in the off season. (sort of kidding)

These two teams finished in a tie for first in the AAC, each winning on their home court. Houston gets the AQ for their sets won in the two matches, 5-4. UCF will be an easy at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Stout Snags Defensive Player of the Week

Wichita State redshirt sophomore middle blocker Morgan Stout was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

It's the first weekly award of the season for Stout, who joins Natalie Foster as Shockers who have been named AAC Defensive Player of the Week in 2022.

Stout authored two outstanding blocking performances in wins at SMU and Memphis this past week. Against the Mustangs, she set a new season high with 10 total blocks, including one solo. After a quiet first set in which she recorded just one kill, Stout took over the match down the stretch. She had three blocks in the third set, four in the fourth, and two more in the fifth, plus three kills on three attempts. Stout helped the Shockers pile up 16 team blocks, holding a potent SMU offense to a .165 hitting percentage.

The native of Fowler, Kansas again saved her best for last on Friday against Memphis. In the clinching fourth set, she had three blocks, including one solo, and two kills. For the day, she finished with two solo blocks and four block assists while producing nine kills on a .389 hitting percentage.
