The Shocks did what they neede to do this weekend taking a pair from 2 of the leagues bottom feeders although poor play late in the 3rd sets of both matches prevented a pair of sweeps. The Shocks also started the 4th sets at 0-2 vs ECU and 5-10 vs Temple before righting the ship and closing out a pair of 4-set matches.

I thought Sophia and Natalie both played very well for the most part and one or both could be on the AAC honor roll for this week. In fact, I think Sophia has been playing as well as she ever has as a Shocker since returning from her abdominal strain.

Shocks need to finish well. I would like to see them go 4-2 in the final 6 matches but that is far from a sure thing,

Foster Continues Tear, Named to Weekly Honor Roll

Wichita State sophomore middle blocker Natalie Foster was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

It's the third weekly honor for Foster, who was named Defensive Player of the Week on September 5 and snagged a spot on the Honor Roll on October 17.

Foster has put together a dominant stretch of volleyball over the last three weeks, highlighted by two excellent performances this past weekend in road wins over East Carolina and Temple. The 6'4 middle had 16 kills in each match while committing just seven attack errors on 57 combined swings, good for a .439 hitting percentage. She added three block assists in both matches, and even produced the match-winning service ace on Friday at East Carolina.

Over the last six matches, Foster has bludgeoned volleyballs to the tune of a .421 hitting percentage (85 kills, 16 errors, 164 total attempts), raising her season mark to .358, fifth-best in the American Athletic Conference. The native of Mattawan, Michigan is on pace for career bests in kills per set, blocks per set, digs per set, and aces per set.
