6-7, then 12-8. TO Tulsa. Three service aces in that stretch.

13-9 then block, Nicole, attack error, Brylee. 17-9 and TO for Tulsa.

So far 14 players have played for the Shocks vs 9 for Tulsa. Do we know what is going on with Megan and Emma? They both started the match but Megan only played in Set 1 and Emma only played in Sets 1 and 2. Shocks have done very well without them in Sets 3 and 4 however.

They have several True Fr. who all look good. Buss had moments during the 2nd Set, and Morgan Weber looks good too.

I think this is a decision to get his best team on the court. I suspect these ladies have earned this opportunity in practice. Just my guess.

21-12 and now 22-17. TO Shocks. Can the young ones close out the match with the opponents mounting a charge?

Might be. Megan and Emma weren't exactly tearing it up when they were on the court at least from what the stats show.

Marriah with two kills and Brylee with one to close out the set and match.

                25-18 in the fourth.

.199 v .112. Nicole is 15-3-39 for .308. Brylee with thirteen kills, Marriah eight, Morgan seven, Natalie six, Lauren five. SA/SE is 9/8. Only six blocks v eleven. Twenty-six attack errors on 171 swings - too many.

But we are 2-0 in the AAC and won matches on the road.

Not an overwhelming performance based on the stats but great to see Mariah, Morgan, Natalie and Lauren getting some real time experience and doing pretty well. In fact, you might say they put us over the hump. Nicole and Brylee both had pretty good attack lines again. Sina with 23 digs in 4 sets is very good work. Nicole with a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs.

We got out blocked 11-6 which is pretty unusual this year but the Shocks offset that with a +1 in Service Aces-Errors while Tulsa was a -3.

I see Kayce had 4 setting errors. I have to look for that when I watch the replay this evening to see if those were her fault or mostly trying to save bad situations.

Not sure what I should have expected from this team this year but sure can't complain about a 7-0 start. It's been a while since we have strung that many wins in a row.

Next up is SMU next Friday and Saturday.

We got out blocked on the stat sheet but that didn't really tell the entire story. After the early second set debacle we got our hands on far more swings and popped up a ton of swings that would eventually turn into Shocker points. Tulsa had a brief stretch where they stuff blocked several good swings straight down for points. We effectively blocked far most swings.

Morgan might be our best all around player. Maybe not the best at any one spot, but overall solid. She also served very, very tough and kept Tulsa out of system a ton, especially on 2 extended service streaks. The ladies served a lot better late in the match too.

I'm noticing some patterns and wondering if it is just Lambo getting players floor time, players becoming too comfortable, or if it is something regarding our play.

We have played 25 sets in 7 matches winning 21 sets. We have won the first set of every match so far, generally at comfortable margins. We have won in straight sets the first match (as well as the 2nd of 3 in Springfield) over all 3 locations. Lost sets have all come on the last day.

She should double down and play golf. The team could use her.

I think in the case of North Texas and Tulsa where their first matches of the season was playing the Shockers it is not that surprising that they would play better in their 2nd match than in their season opening match. In the MIssouri State tournament I think the Lady Bears were clearly the best of the 3 teams we faced in that tournament. In fact, Missouri State is now 8-1 on the season. However, South Dakota did split with #14 Creighton the following weekend with the Bluejays winning in 5 sets on Friday in Omaha and the Yotes winning in 5 sets on Sunday in Vermillion.

Looking forward to seeing how the Shocks fare against SMU next weekend. SMU was picked to win the AAC West Division ahead of Tulane and Houston with the Shockers slotted for 4th in the ahead of Tulsa and Memphis.

Houston swept SMU in Dallas yesterday 19.16, 22. The are playing again this evening with Houston leading 1-0 after breaking away from a 20-20 tie to take the 1st set 25-20.

After taking Set 2 by 25-21 and leading 18-12 in Set 3 Houston appeared on its way to back-to-back seeps of SMU. However, SMU finished off Set 3 with a 13-4 run to win that set 25-22 and force a 4th set. SMU pulls out a 25-23 win in Set 4 to force a 5th and deciding set. In Set 5 SMU saved 3 match points and Houston saved 5 match points before the Cougars prevail 23-21 with the winning point on an SMU attack error.

Houston's sweep of SMU displaces SMU as the AAC West division favorite with Houston moving into that position at this point.

Pablo is a bit gimmicky this year because of COVID and probably not nearly as accurate as it has been in the past. There are only Pablo numbers for teams in a conference, not "national" numbers. It will be interesting to see the number after this weekend. Last week was the first week, and the Shockers had a very high number, the best in the AAC. . Of course, Tulsa had yet to play a match by last week.

                                Thursday/Friday

                                East Carolina 1-3 Cincinnati
                                East Carolina 0-3 Cincinnati
Of the seven sets, all but one was decided by the requisite two points. Three of the sets went into extras.

                                Houston 3-0 SMU
                                Houston 3-2 SMU
In the fifth set, the score was 23-21.

                                Friday/Saturday

                                Temple 2-3 USF
USF lost the third set 6-25, but came back to win the next two, 26-24 and 17-15.
                                Temple 3-1 USF

                                Memphis 1-3 Tulane
                                Memphis 0-3 Tulane
