  • @ Evansville and SIU Weekend

These are two matches that the Shockers should win and must win.

That said Evansville gave us a huge scare last year in Evansville with Shocks coming from behind to win a tough 5-set match 25-12, 22-25, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-12.

We beat SIU in Carbondale in 4 sets last year by scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-14

Emily Adney had 44 kills in those two matches last year so expect EU and SIU to be focusing on Emily. Fortunately the Shocks have plenty of other weapons. Hopefully, Slammin' Sammie is on her game and will introduce herself to the Aces and the Salukis.

The Shocks are currently leading the Valley in hitting percentage in conference-only matches with a .321 hitting percentage. Individually, sophomore Ashley Andrade leads the Valley in hitting percentage at .429.

Hoop is moving up the Shocker record books in career assists. She now has 4,242 career assists and needs 72 more to move into second place. MEH gets about 10 assists per set. She could possibly move into 2nd on the career assist list this weekend. If not, it will come agaisnt MSU next week.

Hope the SHOX have a goal for the weekend of "having fun" They just need to go out and execute and have fun. Good things happen when you have fun doing what you love to do.

Sounds like it started tonight with Lambo getting a little recognition for another birthday.

    Have fun!
    GO SHOX!

Shocks came out flat in Set one, fell way behind, rallied back to 22-23 then lost the final two points to lose the first set 22-25.

Shocks built a big lead in Set 2 then Evansville rallied late but the Shocks still won relatively easily by a 25-18 score to even the match.

Shocks take 2-1 lead by dominating Set 3 with a 25-15 win.

Shocks built a 3-point lead in Set 4 but Evansville rallied to take a 21-19 lead with the help of 3 service aces and then held on for a 25-22 win in Set 4 to send the match to a 5th Set. Poor back row play late hurt the Shocks.

Evansville jumps out to a 5-2 lead in Set 5 including consecutive service aces and two blocks.

Evansville believes they will win this.

Shocks call time-out trailing 6-10. Evansville is pumped.

          Not looking good.

            Shocks fall in 5 losing the deciding 5th set 10 - 15.

This is a really bad loss for the Shocks.

Not sure exactly what it is that this team is missing. But it is missing something.

            :-x

Lambo did not get with Mike for any post-match comments.

Hard to say for sure what happened from listening to a radio broadcast but it sounds like we lost the serve and passing game especially so at crunch time.

probably didn't want to face FCC fines for explicit language

In all likelihood this will be the 1st time in 8 years (I believe) where the Shocks will be playing on Thanksgiving Day. Not that it probably makes much difference because we generally don't play well in the MVC Tournament anyways.
