  • Shockers at Louisville Cardinal Classic

Shocks struggling with Eastern Illinois in Set 1.

The Shocks fell behind 5-11 and still trailed by 5 at 8-13 before starting to rally. Shocks finally took the lead at 21-20 and then finished the set strong to win 25-21.

This is an Eastern Illinois team that only scored 38 points in 3 sets against Indiana State last weekend.

Shocks take Set 2 by the same 25-21 score pretty much leading the entire set.

Still, they don't seem to be hitting on all cylinders yet and will need to play much better against Louisville and Ole Miss on Saturday and Sunday.

Shocks finish off the sweep winning 25-17 in Set 3.

Pretty much the expected result today but perhaps a little tougher than expected.

Louisville will be comparable to Arizona so we will find out tomorrow if we have really made any progress.

We certainly have a ways to go to be the team we want to be, but Andrade's recent performances are a very positive sign for this team moving forward. Everyone will look a lot better on an offense when those middle attacks are working at that success rate and with that frequency.

Wow Ashley! Led the team in kills and out of the middle to boot! I am not sure that McGee ever even had that many kills in a 3 set match. Great things are coming WSU's way with that young lady. Field too is hitting and blocking well. Those two can hit all day long out of the middle. Can't wait for some home court action!. Wish that Lambo would have talked to Mike after the match, would love to hear his take on things.

Been awhile since we could brag about both of our middles on offense. Good things are happening. We also have at least two outstanding outside hitters that any team would have in their starting line-up and more fire power all around. Two setters that any team would have starting. wow! If our littles get the serve receive down and everyone stops the brainless serving mistakes. We are loaded!

Louisville sweeps Ole Miss tonight 28-26, 25-19 and 25-18.

Another very good test and another good opportunity awaits the Lady Shocks.

Shocks and Lousville tied at 1-1 at intermission.

Shocks led most of the way in Set 1 and held a 20-19 lead when Louisville went on a 6-0 run to close out the set with 25-20 win.

The Shocks again held a 20-19 lead in Set 2 but this time they finished strong taking the set 25-21.

Hopefully the Ladies can maintain this level of play after intermission.

Shocks come out playing poorly in Set 3 falling behind 2-10 early. Pull within 4 at 15-19 but could not do any better than that falling 17-25 in Set 3.

Similar feel to the Hawaii match with the home team taking control after intermission.

I am not sure what just happened! Sounds like Louisville pretty much just handed us that match on a platter.
