Not much doubt about who the better team was tonight.

Shocks have some work to do, although they did show some good things. They just were not consistently good.

Lambo sounded pretty disappointed in the Shocks serve and passing game. Not real pleased with his littles?

I still have high hopes for this team. Andrade really came on in the end and Camri had a really good game too. GO SHOX!! :posterwsu:

Perhaps, but Arizona was stronger than I thought. The Hanzlova girl is a nice addition and they also had a freshman who was very effective on the attack.

The Shocks did not play very well, but Arizona had something to do with that.

We are finding out just how very important Sarah McGee was to this team.

We will get better, but it may take some time.

Arizona was definately the better team tonight, they seemed to be a more aware of the court from the get go but we did improve through the match. Paper interview with Lambo said that they were only practicing the 5-1 so surprised they went to the 6-2 so quickly. Do love the setting styles of both girls though. Glad to see Sanders healthy and swinging away, she also had some good block assists. Field and Andrade are going to be great in the middle with those big swings but got to pick up the pace and do some fine tuning. Adney and Camri had almost exact stats. Adney's hitting percentage will always be a little lower due to her aggressiveness thus making more errors by not playing it safe and keeping it in play. But she gets it done by leading the team in points scored. Littles look the same as last year. And what with the serving? It feels like Shockers make more service errors than all their opponents. Seems like we give way too many points away from the service line. Even though they lost I still love watching these girls and predict that they will do great things this season. It feels like they missed an important opportunity but its how they finish not how they start! Go Shox!!!!!!

I hope people remember how important Kelly and Melissa were to our success.

A couple years ago, some here were calling for Waldo to start ahead of Mel. Hopefully these fans are better informed now.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

He noted in the post-game radio show that we have to win this phase of the game when playing teams like Arizona who are more physical than we are. Other thoughts that I recall: Chelsey Feekin was supposed to be disruptive with her offense - it didn't really happen. He seemed optimistic about the match with Hawai'i who are less physical than Arizona. He had a nice comment about the play of Camri. He also had a "technical" comment about the placements of Camri and Elizabeth in the rotation - something about not the best spots for them individually, but best for the team.

              Hawai'i beat San Francisco, 22, 12, 23.

Arizona was the better team last night, or at least the better coached. So we practice the 5-1 and play the 6-2? Chalk one up for professor Rubio, remember Lamb was an assistant under Rubio. Maybe it was a just comment Lamb made to throw off Arizona but the team did seemed confused at times like the game plan had changed; players out of position and missing sets, this could be explained if they practice something different than they play. A professor is rarely fooled by a student. Rubio had a better game plan and put the defense at the net were it was needed to win, it’s about execution. Basically - we didn’t adjust and were not aggressive.

A perfect game will be need to beat Hawaii, I'm betting Shoji is ready. :(

Ok enough said on the AZ match, time to move onto the Hawaii match! Any guesses as to what we will be seeing tonight? Will we do the same things only better or will there be changes in lineup and/or players?

                    Off formation

I thought they were in a 6-2 last night, too, but I distinctly recall giving out the girls on the floor after timeouts and at other tmes during the game, and I'd swear he gave the name of a setter as being on the front row. Anyone else remember that?

Waldo had 12 digs with 1 error. Probably could have had 5 more but would've stolen them from teammates. No one works harder out there that she does.

I assume when Lambo talks about passing errors, he's talking about the team and not one player. Camri is a great offensive player but alot of balls drop in front of her. Not sure she is a 6 rotation player.

Spangler - if you're going to compare Waldo to Mel and Kelly, then you need to remember who they had helping them in the backrow.

Were we really running a 6-2 or running a 5-1 and just rotating Hoop and Chelsey in and out? I must admit I was not watching that closely to be able to tell for sure. However, if you were running a 6-2 you would not expect your setter to be disruptive with her offense from the back row (where she would be in a 6-2) would you?

Think you figured it out '72, from the look of the boxscore, we ran a modified 5-1 where we used 2 setters. Chelsey played the front row rotation portion where her offensive capabilities could be used and Hooper played the back row where her defensive abilities pay off. At least that looks like that is the hope.

This sounds quite likely. Not watching the match, I am not sure at all, but I too was a bit puzzled by the "Chelsey offense" remark if she was coming out of the back row. As I understand it, a setter from the back row can still attack, just not on a ball above the net or by leaving her feet or something - not sure of the limits.

To further support the modified 5-1 thesis, Chelsey never served in the match according to the Play-by-Play Summary.

For those of us stuck in Kansas, is anyone purchasing the game. And if so are you having any luck purchasing the game?

Unable to purchase game on website and so called to find out that they are having technical difficulties.
