  • Buddy was at Nebraska for the Fresno State game. It's unknown if it was an official visit. He met the Nebraska football coach but little else is known.

    • This article says OU is trying use Kansas ties to get Buddy. The main tie in this case is not former Shocker and now OU assistant Lew Hill or the head coach. It's another OU assistant Chris Crutchfield, who came to OU from ORU.

      • From BuffaloStampede, the rivals board for Colorado, their admin Adam M:

"I heard that the four-star shooting guard prospect from Bel Aire (Kan.) Sunrise Christian Academy, who is in Boulder visiting the Buffs right now, currently has Colorado and Oklahoma as his favorites with Nebraska and Marquette being in that next tier. If Kansas decides to offer, there is a good chance he ends up there, but right now the Buffs have a good chance."
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

        • Has either side indicted any interest? If not then I'm not sure why he's garnering so much attention on here.

          • There was interest, but it seems to have dissipated.

It was reported back in April that the Shockers offered.

              • I'm sure the Shockers are no longer in the hunt to get Hield.

For sometime, I've thought Buddy has been looking to go to KU. Perhaps he's even willing to wait until Spring to get a Jayhawk offer. If they don't offer, I think it's more than likely OU.

There's been no indication of WSU visiting Buddy during the open period. I believe the Shockers haven't been involved for sometime. However, even if I'm wrong on that (which I could be), I'm sure we are not in it at this time.

9/21 edit- For those interested here is a link that names Buddy's final 4.

I read the reason that he committed was because the pick-up games were absolutely awesome!

                        • Bump.

Imagine a team with Fred, Ron, Buddy, and Perry on the court this season.

Fantasy, I know. How, fun would that have been though.

Buddy might be the only guard better in the country than Fred or Ron.

                            • He's an excellent player and would be a great asset to any team, no doubt. But Oklahoma's style of play -- and the loose defense in Big 12-2 games (much like in football; the league seems to like scoring even though it doesn't necessarily translate all that well at the end of the season) -- enables him to collect bigger numbers than WSU's allows Baker. He'll get more attention, and games like yesterday's provide a great showcase for him, but I'm not sure that means he's better.

Hield was a promising freshman whose game has really grown throughout his career. Who knows -- maybe we'll be saying the same thing about Shamet in January 2019.
