It looks like they keep their MaxPreps page up to date, also. On there it says that he had 13 points on 4-11 shooting, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in their first game.

Interesting box score for a high school team: 24 made baskets on 19 assists. The team also had 18 steals. They don't include in the box fouls and TOs.

On the down side, Tekele was 1-4 from 3 and 4-8 FTs. That was also the trend for the team, 2-12 from 3 (Gaines 1-6) and 9-20 FTs. It will be good to follow his progress.

I remember in Maui they mentioned in the UVA game that we had a really good incoming class highlighted by Tekele Cotton. Those were the words from Bilas I believe. Maybe it doesn't mean anything but it made me wonder what this kid will be.

Yea, it was Bilas. I wondered about that as well.

He made very few mistakes, I couldn't remember a TO. They played against a zone, so I couldn't tell his ability to penetrate. He seemed a little shy to shoot in the flow of the offense, but his stroke looked very good when he did. Seemed to be a good defender. One of those players that is energy efficient. Doesn't flail his arms and legs about, just puts himself in the best position possible with minimal energy expended. Did I say I liked Gaines.
I think he had a turnover in the 1st half and a critical turnover at the end of the game. Missed some needed free throws also, but he wasn't the only one. Considering the size advantage that Thomasville had I thought WA hung with them very well. They could have won the game had they been better at the line.

All-in-all though I thought TC looked solid. He looks like he will be a good reboudning guard. Often he was matched up with the Thomasville big boys and did a pretty good job holding his own. His shooting form looks fundamentally sound. I believe with work that he can become a pretty decent shooter. Looking forward to seeing TC in a Shocker uniform.

bump to the top since we are talking about our other recruits too.

I am not convinced about Cotton yet. I heard all this same hype about Adam Liberty before, and I am of the mentality that a guard that can't shoot is half a guard. (BTW, I was a point guard when younger).

I believe Adam Liberty averaged 10 points and 4 assists at ORU or Tulsa (can't remember which) as a senior. Maybe he was in the wrong system at WSU.

                  It was ORU.

I think Liberty tried to be a role player at WSU and struggled to understand exactly what that role was. He didn't have enough "freedom" in Turgeon's system. A guy named Liberty needs his freedom!

I too feel that Turgeon had him on too tight a leash. Liberty was a very good athlete and strong, but it seemed Turgeon wouldn't let him utilize his strengths and he had to try and use his weaknesses. A shame really.

Imagine if Kyles had transferred after his sophomore year...Because Liberty got so much PT as a sophomore, we all had very high expectations.

The announcers are really tough to take, however. They don't even try to give opponents names, just numbers when they say anthing at all.

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
