Good question. Maybe we should have a poll or a contest.

I will go with Ta-Keel (rhymes with Shaquille).
Is he related to Tekele Mockingbird?

I thought DW had an offfer from Washington State. But you never know. Most of us didn't think too highly of Hatch. And, we believed KM was the bomb.

You can look it the other way too. Demetric Williams was recruited by SMU, Pepperdine, UC-Riverside and Texas Southern. He's turning out pretty good thus far.

          ...
He was also recruited by VCU and Iowa according to DW's old recruiting thread.

            Correct
Jim Kobe pronounced it Ta-Keel on the sports tonight on KSN. Or he might have said Ta-Kale. I couldn't quite catch what he said.

After looking at everything to this point - I think it a good sign. Look like he got a good attitude and some skills.

I agree. And I especially like that the kid seems to take pride in his defensive play, which probably means, all the talk about being a hard worker isn’t all talk.

From the Eagle this morning. The first thing Whitefield Academy coach Tyrone Johnson talks about is Tekele (pronounced Tuh-kell) Cotton's toughness and defense.

His shooting percentage was 47%, 53% on 2's, 29% on 3's, and only 61% on FT. He also had 3 TO pg, while having 4.8 assists pg. I like most things about him except his shooting. From 2 seems to be okay though. Needs to get his FT percentage up, and work on his 3 shot. A guard that can work his mid range jumper good can be effective though.

Just because you can slash to the basket in High School, doesn't necessarily mean you will be able to do it in D-1 ball where defenses are tougher and the post players taller.

I guess I will just be in a 'wait and see' mode on him for now.

If his Coach is named Tyrone, could it be Tekele has a has a "knock-down-drag-out" crossover?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

His coach did mention that he has a good mid range game, while only being adequate from 3 point range. The main thing, though, is the defense. Marshall's teams have always thrived on having perimeter defenders that can play aggressively. Cotton fits that mold perfectly, so even if his offense takes time to develop, he can still have a large role on the team.

If he develops into a nice scorer that is great, but he already fits the system we run, appears to be able to fill the stat sheet (rebounds, steals, blocked shots, assists), and has nice athleticism.

I'm thinking Cooz. Remember, he wasn't a great shooter when he got here but found ways to score and fill up the stat sheet in high school.

I was thinking the same thing. I always thought that PJ was much better when he didn't have to be the main scorer on the team, but could play great defense and do all the little things. I think the same will the true for Teleke.

                                Actually, I think you'll find that Cooz was a better shooter (% wise) in FG%, 3 pt%, and FT% as a freshman/sophmore than junior/senior.

                                FG% - .519, .447, .498, .420

                                3 pt% - .373, .351, .349, .336

                                FT% - .724, .729, .681, .625

His first year was his best % performance overall.
