    Johnathan Loyd To Oregon

    Rivals reports the Shockers are interested in Johnathan Loyd, a 5-9 point guard, class of 2010 at Las Vegas, Nevada (Bishop Gorman Hi).

    In the Fall he had offers from Cal Poly, Cal Riverside and Northern Arizona. He just picked up an offer from SMU and now has serious interest from UCLA, Virginia and BYU. Arizona State, Charolotte and Santa Clara, like the Shockers, are showing recent interest.

    14.5 ppg, 7.8 assists and 3 steals a game.

        PJ Couisnard's father. I believe he is related to Elijah Johnson (KU) who played with Demetric Williams last year in high school.

                    UNLV, Northwestern and George Washington were in Loyd's top four. Loyd never really considered Creighton, even though he hit it off with Altman.

                      Just goes to show what the BcS and the media have done the past 20 or so years. Some kids see playing on crap BcS teams as better than playing on good teams in non-BcS conferences.

                        It depends on style of play, too, Sub. I don't think there's any doubt that the Valley's reputation for half-court, defense oriented games is a turnoff for some potential recruits.

                        Maybe Marshall's desire to play faster will help WSU with such guys; maybe Butler's success will cause some guys to rethink the desirability of playing a slower paced game so long as it's in a winning program. And maybe it doesn't really matter, as evidenced (again) by Butler, which probably would not have had much chance of getting a guy who wants to play fast but merely managed to get to the championship game with players who were willing to do it their way.

                          I think it had little to do with BCS vs non-BCS. Two of his other top four were non-BCS teams - UNLV and George Washington. To me that's a slam on the Valley compared to the MWC and Atlantic 10. Heck, GW wasn't even that good last year. I think he liked Altman enough that he'd play for him in a different conference, not just necessarily only a BCS school.

                              2010 JUCO Keithrick Denson has informed the BJC that he will be released from his LOI tomorrow to Creighton. Creighton is now at the limit of 13 for scholarships in 2010-11. Read and comment about it inside! [details]

                              The 13 scholarships include P' Allen's. This news has a few BJC posters dismayed. I did not see any speculation about where he is going.
