I work part time for a CPA who is a friend of mine from grad school. He and his wife are both real go-getters and have four kids (3 boys and a girl) who are, or have gone through, the Derby School system.
This guy's daughter was co-valedictorian of my son's graduating class in '07 and currently attends Nebraska. His second youngest son is my daughter's age.
But the youngest son is the one I wanted to briefly profile here. He is 6'4".........as an 8th grader at Derby Middle School. I believe his shoe size is 14. This kid is still growing.......both physically and mentally. But we may have another potential big-man lurking out there who also has some academic upside. I think he will be attending the Marshall camps this summer, dependent on my friend's schedule.
I couldn't attend tonight's game with SC-Upstate, so I gave the tickets to my friend, who will be taking this young specimen to the game in our place.
I'll attempt to go to a few DMS ball games this year if I am able to, and report back on him periodically. I will also send the coaching staff an e-mail and alert them to the kid.
