Without giving it much effort I can think of 7 current WSU recruits in and around Kansas City. Here's a good article about KC players:

BTW, Coach Jans hit the KC gyms today.

Mentioned in the above article was Willie Cauley, a 6-10 center from Spearville, KS. He has been offered by K-State.

He has a nice list of schools. I wish we were one of them. I know nothing about the kid but he's got nice size, plays for a good AAU team and has a nice list of schools. It's peaked my interest in him...

        Olathe Northwest

I was told that both the Shockers and the Cornhuskers have interest in Shavon Shields, a junior out of Olathe Northwest. Shavon is the son of former KC Chiefs guard, Will Shields.

With the transfer of Willie Cauley from Spearville, KS to Olathe NW, there have been a ton of major D1 coaches attending ONW's late fall workouts.

Any known interest in either of these two players?

I was also told the Shox were looking at a player from Ottawa - don't know name...

Interest from the Shockers in Shields is not surprising. KCpreps has repoorted that Shields and a pg on that team were drawing MVC interest. They have also reported an offer to Cauley from Oklahoma State to go along with the one from K-State. To my knowledge there is no known recruiting efforts from the Shockers for Cauley.

Shields is a 6-5 SF. He's up on ESPN if you want to read about him.

I assume the player on Ottawa's team is Adam Hasty a point guard in the class of 2011. We have had contact with him for a long time. I don't know the interest level. He has attended at least one Shocker camp. He should pop up on a thread or two when you do a search.

Who I have seen described as "being the best sophomore basketball player in the state," and also who has a brother playing for Kansas State University.

ThIs isn't the first time there has been indication of the Shockers recruiting Ojeleye. Not having information about a source, I haven't posted him. I will be surprised if he doesn't have a thread in the near future.

According to an Ottawa sophomore, Semi Ojeleye is the one the Shox have interest in.

The other junior at ONW is Davis Reid. Getting looks by Colgate and some MVC teams.

Shavon Shields in my opinion could play at this level. My son is a Soph at ONW, so I get to see these guys play alot.

ONW defeated Kravish's (Cal Berkley signee) Lee's Summit North team a couple of weeks ago without Cauley. He can't play until January due to KS transfer rules.

This team should contend for a state title.

Shavon Shields: good shooter, excellent passer.

The article also mentions Cauley as being a top 50 player in the US. Thanks for posting it Trop!

I'm told that The Ohio State University and North Carolina will have coaches at Olathe Northwest this weekend to watch Cauley workout.
