  • Dexter Ellington Class of 2010

Dexter Ellington, a 6-0 juco point guard is claiming offers from WSU and Middle Tennessee State. He was a star on the Randolph-Clay (GA) state champion high school team and played his freshman year at Trinity Valley CC in Athens, Texas. He is transfering to Chipola JC for his sophomore year. Before going to Trinity Valley he had interest from Florida State and teams like College of Charleston and Appalachian State.

Freshman Stats at TVCC from the NJCAA:

    26 GP
    16.0 PPG
    83.5 FT%
    37.7 FG%
    33.2 #FG%
    2.7 RPG
    1.85 APG/1.96 TOPG
    1.4 SPG

Needs to take better care of the ball and pass a little more, but freshman stats are very impressive !

This year at Chipola may tell us a lot more. At 6' with only a fair to average FG% and and average 3FG%, his assists will need to double (or more) and Assist/TO ratio must improve quite a bit. With the athletes HCGM is briging in, PG will be his only position. At this time, I wouldn't see him at anything but a backup roll. I don't believe coach is looking much for 2 year backup players.

I think that depends on how Williams projects. PG or SG? If Williams is a SG, a solid juco PG off the bench could be a great asset.

I guess I could make a case for any recruit, given the right set of "what ifs".

With the limited number of schollies available for 2010, I would expect recruiting a 2 year backup PG as a low priority.

Just saying I believe coach has bigger holes to fill. As the year progresses, if another PG is later needed, I would expect him to go after a HS player first.
