Notice I said not counting transfers. Personally I'd take Burns over Ogirri any day.

      You guys are absolutely right.

Randy Burns led WSU to the Sweet Sixteen!

I'd rather not have either. I respect Randy, but he's not the kind of guy you want leading a team to the next level. He may have lost as many games as he won. But at least he wanted the ball.

Ogirri isn't a guy to lead a team either. He was nothing more than a sharp shooting specialist. If I needed a big three I'd rather have him than Burns. If someone was needed to try and create something I'd want Randy.

I'd rather have Toure' or DK over either of them. Things are looking up and the recruiting is much better than the past.

Really. I would much rather have a step-back jumper from O than a lane-driving TO from Burns. BUT, I definitely agree that we have a couple of youngsters who have a lot more well-rounded talent.

Randy was better at creating his own shot than Sean. Both made you want to bang your head against a wall at times.

No kidding. You should have seen my wall!!!

I will give you that point, but counter that MANY more bad things happened with the ball in RB's hands as opposed to SO's. Of course, SO had more weapons around him and RB had to force a lot due to being the only option.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

How you end up trashing two of the best players we have had in the last 20 years is beyond me.

Who's trashing them? Pointing out short comings and saying I'd rather have others with the ball in their hands at the end of a game is hardly trashing. I don't recall anyone else trashing them either.

FACT: Randy made some big shots
FACT: Randy made some costly TOs trying to do way too much
FACT: Randy often drove too far into the lane and left himself with zero options
FACT: Randy had to try and do more than he was capable of
FACT: Randy may come off the bench if you picked a team of 12 from the last 20 years

FACT: Sean could shoot from deep and hit some big shots
FACT: Sean wasn't a good ball handler
FACT: Sean had issues creating a shot
FACT: Sean wasn't a strong passer or defender
FACT: Sean may come off the bench if you picked a team of 12 from the last 20 years

I'm not sure if either would be guaranteed a spot. They both helped push the program forward some. I'm not sure either would be a major factor on this coming team. Randy would probably have more of a shot at PT than Sean.

I am not sure Randy would come off the bench. Players that have to create shots always get tied up sometimes or have the lane shut down on them. It even happens to P'Allen.

Randy was pretty good at the 10-17 foot pull up jumpers.

Another fact, Wichita teams are typically short of Offensive talent, and therefore struggle with scoring. And that's why some Offensively talented players (they are makers) that may not be the most athletic can work better for a team than an athletic player that throws up bricks all the time.

Someone forgot to tell this rule to SIU. :posterwsu:

In the last 20 years - Paul Guffrovich at 6'3" could certainly put the ball in the hole. John Cooper played SF at 6'6", but I'm not sure under a Marshall team he wouldn't play some SG. I've often wondered at what position Jason Perez at 6'4" would have played under HCGM - more SF or more SG. Also, would Marshall recruit a player like Jason? Too small on the front line, maybe not quick enough and long enough at guard?

Nevertheless, that's three players I would want shooting the rock!

Never understood how Perez's knuckleballs went in, but they sure did.

I thought Jason's best asset was his nose for the ball on defense - steals and rebounds. It was uncanny.

Randy was the best rebounding guard we've had in a long time. It's not all about shotting.
