I found this in the juco board. If this board member gets his way, we won't be sending anymore players like EO to TRCC. http://jucojunction.rivals.com/showm...204896&style=1 I found this quote a little disturbing. "People like to see their grandsons and nephews play ball," agreed Bill Hollida Sr., board vice chair. "I'm not interested in seeing Africa come play here." EO is the only international player they have that is from Africa. The guy is a racist nimrod.

Apparently the guy doesn't like watching good basketball either. Isn't TRCC usually one of the best in the country?Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Of course, Three Rivers is a great program. There is no way to say what that guy said without people getting upset. There are a thousand posts on here about more local kids, more Kansas kids, more city league kids. Ramon is one of my favorite Shockers ever, but in spite of that, I'd rather have Midwest kids than NY kids any day.

Few if any say that they want local talent over far superior talent elsewhere. We'd like to see WSU get the better area kids when they're a decent option but not at the expense of getting a Kenny Mannigault, Jerome Hamilton or Ehimen.
It sounds like this guy would rather have little Billy from down the street who can barely dribble as opposed to what could potentially be an NBA talent in Ehimen. That's just crazy talk unless you really don't care about success.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Others in sports have made comments they didn't consider as racist either, merely fact, but they lost their jobs. Unfortunately, today's world is very, very thin-skinned and most anything can and will be taken wrong. Those in "positions" of authority, importance, or the press are supposed to know better. Basically, he made a stupid comment.

Sure, best player available, of course. This is as slow as I can type. I would much rather have Midwest kids than NY kids, or California kids, or Detroit kids, or Florida kids. I am surprised that anybody would have an issue with this. If there are no local kids available, you go where you have to go, naturally. Given a choice of one and only one, I'd rather have Antoine than Cliff; I'd rather have Valentine that Sherron freakin Collins; I'd rather have Blake Griffen than Mike Beasley.
