Having seen him twice this year, and once against ok competition I don't think he's D1 material. He's not quick enough to play D at this level and isn't that great about getting his shot off when guarded by guys even a little shorter than him. He definitely couldn't handle guards his size or bigger.

He can shoot, but he's going to play small college ball.

If I'm that wrong about him I'll appologize and stop commenting on recruits.

Bryce and his dad were at the Ind St. game in the section behind the bench.

Maybe I should have said if he want a scholarship he's going to play small college. If he wants a D1 'ship he better go JUCO and work on some things. I'm sure he may be allowed to walk-on. But I'm not sold on how much he'd offer.

Every official I've talked to feels the same way about him. He benefits from playing against very weak competition and having a team that runs just about everything through him.

I am told from a family friend that Coach Marshal had a long meeting with the Mayes family within the last week...according to him it is between WSU and Okla. St...they still think a scholarship is in the offing though I gather from this thread...and from the Scholarship situation, that appears unlikely....Is this kid a sleeper?...Why would O State be looking at him?

If offers are around the corner they see something in this kid that nobody I know sees.

I have also spoken to someone close to this situation and it has come down to WSU and OSU. Right now there are no scholarships available either place.

Sounds like a similar situation to the kid from eastern KS that walked on here during Turgeon's last year. I can't recall his name.

                        Did someone mention open scholarship?

Hate to see Reggie go, but...

I think we could do better than Bryce Mayes personally. But I guess if the scholarship is not going to be used on anyone else Marshall could take a chance on him, as long as there's no fear in revoking the scholarship if Mayes isn't worth it.

                            No

Seems unlikely, DSB. From what SubGod has said, Chamberlain is probably a better player than Mayes is.

Where are all the "we have to sign local kids" posters demanding that we sign this kid?

Irregardless of all the talent that's available to us out there, I'm sure signing this local kid should be priority one, right?

Regardless of being local or not, it does seem like he CAN SCORE, and that can not be ignored. I don't know how many times I have seen his name being in the top scorers in the state, most of the time, listed 1st.
