  • 2010 RECRUITING SUMMARY

    WSU 2010 Recruits and Prospects:

Recruits: WSU probably has, or had some level of interest in the player beyond prospecting. If a recruit has committed verbally or by LOI to another school, he is taken off this list but can be found in "links."

Prospects: WSU probably is or was prospecting the player to determine if they have a interest and/or if the player is interested in WSU. Keep in mind that the determination between a prospect and a recruit is based upon the current information currently known and many times just due to lack of information. There might be serious mutual interest between a listed prospect and WSU. If the player attended WSU's elite camps and no other recruiting information is known, he is listed as a prospect. If the prospect has committed verbally or by LOI to another school, he is taken of this list but can be found in "links."

Recruits or prospects in a NJCAA school are designated by "JUCO." The home State of a JUCO recruit is followed by the State where they are playing if it is different. In most cases recruits who were recruited by our current coaching staff in high school playing at a NJCCA school are placed on the recruiting summary of the year it's expected that they will be able to transfer to Div-1. They are normally listed as prospects until further information becomes available.

Rival stars are followed by Scout stars.

Interest level is my current best guess.

Date of last updates were started on 7/2/08. If no date is given the last update was before 7/2/08. Updates within approximately the last week to 10 days are color coded in red.

Dexter Ellington PG, SF Jonathan Simmons and most recently, SF Will Clyburn have claimed offers from WSU. These recruits are colored coded in yellow. [/color]

Currently, the Shockers have room for only one addition to the roster. Ehimen Orupke has signed a LOI to the Shockers (see Commits to WSU below).

    Last update: 11/5/09

Lante Phillips 6-0 SG from Houston, TX area
Was at the Shockers' elite camp. The good shooter has drawn interest from Northern Colorado and Texas State. Doesn't often get to run a team in high school so will need to contiunue to work on pg skills to be successful in college. Considered a low major to mid major prospect.

Dillon Starzl 6-9 PF Kearny, MO
19.6 ppg, 66% from the field as a junior
It's believed he has visited WSU. UMKC and Drake have attended at least one of his games.

He is a tough, hard working no frills player. Can take it to the hole and has a nice one dribble jumper. Considered a low major to mid-major prospect. Was the 3rd leading scorer on his good HS team last year. They play a Princeton motion offense and he wants to play motion offense in college.

Might as well add DeLoach to this list. Even though it isn't official that they are recruiting him, it is a pretty safe bet for after this next year.

Agreed and will be done. Just have to catch up on a few things.

We, along with Missouri State, South Alabama and New Orleans were interested in Jamell Cormier as part of the 2008 recruiting class. He will be added to that recruiting summary, but also to this one since he ended up at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, a juco. He is a point guard out of Stillwater, OK. and averaged 21 points per game.

By the way, Deloach was added to the 2009 recruiting summary since we know he will be eligible to transfer to Div-1 that year.

Spradling got an offer from KSU about a month ago.

Creekmur has offers from Creighton, Indiana State, UNI, Montana State and North Dakota.

I think Devon Manning is off our list. With TM, KM, and DW, plus he averaged only 2.3 ppg, shot 29% from the field and 50% FT. His 3pg was 21%.

Either his game didn't go to the next level, or he didn't put in the work required to continue to elevate his game. His FT drop off from HS to JUCO was amazing...86% to 50%.

I'm trying out a new feature. Recent updates (approximately within 7-10 days) are now color coded in red.

I've added a Prospects and Others category to the summary. It's for players who have not made public announcement of their recruitment by WSU, but who I believe are indeed being recruited by the Shockers. There is a category like this in the 2011 Summary.

I have placed JC player Shay Shine in this category.
