Why would WSU be the best fit for JC? He may be a talent in basketball but his baseball would seem to offer more of an upside for his future if his future aspirations involve making some money as a professional before he begins a teaching career. Its a lot easier to take up a profession (teaching) if you have some seed money socked away from signing a professional baseball contract. WSU is going to need young talent all over and especially in the infield. I wonder who do we think could provide the facilities and the coaching for a young man interested in coming in and contributing right away. In other years it would be a dog fight to get playing time but not this year. If he were to choose another school (valley) he would have to endure coming to Eck stadium and seeing 3,500 fans cheering against his team and maybe playing in front of less than 100 on his own field. Unless WSU was playing there and then the WSU fans would probably outnumer the home fans. Where ever JC winds up playing it will be for his best but I really feel his best is right here. Everyone have a Merry Christmas. HO HO HO

Thank you, rc20, for taking the time and making the effort to provide the detailed information on Johnny and his remarkable family.
Obviously, as Wichita State fans, we are chomping at the bit hoping that he will choose to become a Shocker. The basketball fortunes for the Shockers look extremely bright as Coach Marshall, in two short years, has recruited a number of young men, who along with next years recruiting class, show tremendous potential. And Johnny would certainly be a most prized addition in both sports.
We naturally hope he becomes a Shocker. But you can rest assured the Shocker Nation will root for him as an individual no matter where he goes. And the reason is because your comments have personalized him (plus your family) and he is just too good an individual not to do so.

RC, thanks for the insight. Hope your father gets better. I have no doubt, being diagnosed with cancer decades ago and he fought through it, that he will get through this challenge. Merry X'mas to you all.
P.S. I've asked Santa for Mr. Coy as a present. :D

Whether Johnny chooses the Shockers or not, the fans will always root for him and be interested in how he does.
What is really sad is to see other fans from an unnamed school (which is east of Topeka) brag about how important a recruited player will be to the team, yet when that player chooses to attend another school, he then suddenly becomes the worst player around.
I am just so thankful that the Shocker fans, for the most part, are not like that. It would be an embarrassment to the program to be so trivial.
Thanks for sharing Johnny's story.
Being able to follow Johnny's future success will be of interest and welcomed by the Shocker fans where ever he goes!
Best of luck to the Coy family!

Just a quick bit of input here: I am a secondary education major, and the education school here is fabulous. If he chooses education here, they won't skimp on the schooling...Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.
