  • Marquis Mathis Class of 2009

Marquis Mathis is a 6-7 to 6-8 combo forward at Cincinnati St CC, a Division II NJCAA team. He is getting looks form WSU, Detroit, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wright State.

Thad Matta of Ohio State took a look at him last season when he was a freshman at Cincinnati State but I don't think they are on him hard at the present time. If Ohio State does offer he will go there as it's his dream school.

He is said to be raw but very athletic. He was at Columbus Harvest Prep before going juco.

I have a couple of Cincy State games on the schedule. If I note anything worthwhile, I'll pass along. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

I like the kids numbers, but it would mean 4 junior posts between 6-7 and 6-9 (Durley, Ellis, Blair). I'm not sure that is a good fit for 4 upperclassmen at virtually the same position. Add Hamilton, Stutz, Coy (?), and EO in a year and we are REALLY crowded.

At this point I'm thinking another guard.

How do we sit with DSE? I know BU is hard on him but I'd take another combo guard that can score.

I need to go back and check who's available still in this class.
