Who is he and is there a thread on him? 8) I couldnt locate one.

Per scout it seems we have offered him.

Derenbecker was 5-A All-State second team as a sophomore at Ponchatoula. He averaged 23.7 ppg and 11 rebounds. He will play his junior year at Country Day. Rivals shows him as a SF but he has been playing at the SG position according to Scout. He has been described as a pure shooter with excellent defensive skills to go with his great stroke. He is a lefty and also has the ability to slash to the basket.

He is pretty excited about his offer from LSU. It might be difficult to get him away from Tiger Country.

Offers from WSU (according to Scout only), LSU and Wofford. Interest from Ole Miss, Tulane, SE Louisiana, Alabama and Baylor.

Derenbecker lit up American Heritage at the Great Florida Shootout for 49 points, on 17-22 shooting including 9-11 from 3.

He is an accurate and confident 3 pt shooter that will score at will in transition if left alone from 3, and is aggressive to get to the lane and score over his opponent.

LSU still the favorite, but Wichita State still heavily in the mix.

More to read about Derenbecker (read individual profile down the page some):

Kenny Boynton once again shined, but he wasn't the only star at the Great Florida Shootout, writes Paul Biancardi.

He seems to be, at least to me, about the best recruit we are looking at for 2010.

He looks like a good one. I would love to see him and Jelon Kendrick show up Saturday at the Shocker's version of elite camp.

He had some positive reviews from his most recent AAU outing. However he must have the worst highlight video on the Internet.

Very sad news as Matt was found dead this morning. He was 22.

Matt had an unbelievable talent, but never seemed to get past the demons in his past.

I only bring it up here as it shows the toughness and dedication for players like FVV and others to avoid the demons and make it out.

RIP Matt. I hope you and your family can find peace.
