  • Michael Cobbins To Oklahoma State

Scout 3 star Michael Cobbins is a 6-8, 200lb PF at Palo Duro Hi in Amarillo, Texas. He is getting initial interest from WSU, Marquette, Arizona State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. AAU team is New Mexico Force.

"Cobbins runs the floor with ease and uses his length to effect shots around the basket and snag rebounds. At this point, Cobbins is lacking strength, but he still showed he could score in the the paint."

Nice group of schools to be included with. Cobbins is expected to be a Top 100 player, is listed at 6'10 now, and has ability to hit from the elbow or beat his player to the hole.

According to Rivals you can add Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, SMU, Stanford and CS Fullerton. He also claims an offer from Fullerton.

They have him averaging 18 and 11.

He sounds promising and like a quality person.

Texas Hoops Analysis:MICHAEL Very long with a thin body. He has very solid skills for size and is still developing. He has nice hands and footwork inside the paint and will finish with a soft touch from 15-17 feet. He will create with one or two dribbles and is a nice rebounder/shot blocker.

sounds sort of like an AE type of player (which I wouldn't mind having at all)
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Virginia has offered. Georgia Tech and Arizona State are showing strong interest after watching him. New Mexico (offer), Kansas, Washington State, Baylor, Indiana State and Santa Clara also watched him this week. Stanford and Virginia saw him earlier in the contact period.

And why havent we offered? We can always use the size, and nothing against AE or Stutz, but it sounds like he is much less of a "project" than they are.

I'm not sure if we're even still in the picture at this point.

Personally, I don't think we'll bring in another big outside of EO. We do at this point only have one 'ship for '10 and will have a deep front court with Stutz, Durley, Blair, Ellis and Hamilton. Coy could still play a part but I expect him to be on the wing.

3 of those guys would be SRs though. I wouldn't complain if we had Cobbins either

There's been a slew of articles about him over the past months. WSU has not been mentioned in a long time.
