  • Matt Qualls to Central Oklahoma

6'7" 230 PF. Tahlequah (OK) Class of '09 AAU Playing with Purpose

No offers. He has medium interest in Air Force, Army, 0U, OSU, Arkansas, Marquette, SWOMO and Wichita State. Low in Tulsa, Nebraska, Washington and aTm.

As a FR he averaged 18.3 ppg, 2.2 bpg, 14 rpg and shot 58.6% from the field.

    As a SO he averaged 21, 2.6, 13 and 65.2.

    As a JR he averaged 25.7, 3.5. 14.5.

One article I read says he's down to 220 while adding muscle and is working on his outside game.

He was also named the East Area Player of the Year in Oklahoma.

Qualls is on the right (with PWP):

      excerpt:

“I’m favoring Wichita State or maybe Air Force,” Qualls said.

“Wichita State seems like my kind of place. They said they run a lot of stuff with the wings and post players to get them open, that would be good for me. I don’t know a lot about Air Force, but their coaches seem like they’re pretty friendly.”

Appears he has it narrowed down to 5. Air Force and Wichita State are still there along with UNLV, Army and SWOMO

We seem to have a lot of interest in PF's, and we seem to be set for the PF position for next year and beyond. I wonder if they are looking at some of these players to actually play SF instead.

This player seems to be one we should be interested in though.

When you have guys like Ellis and maybe Blair that might be able to play some SF, bringing in another post isn't a bad idea. Especially considering we currently only have one true center. There is post time to go around. And lets not forget that we lose two of our PFs after this season.

I like this player, and he is at the top of my list for the last schollie for 09.

You don't average a double-double unless you are a baller. His stats have gotten better and better each year.

If he can get into the Air Force Acadamy and West Point he is also a smart kid.
He might qualify for a full ride academic scholarship.

                    Very good point.

Plus how big is Tahlequah? You can avg a double-double at a small school in places and not amount to a hill of beans. But with the schools having inquired at least about him, I'm guessing that isn't the case. Just offering it up as a point to consider.

Seems as if Matt has a big brother that is 2 years older than him, David.

Here is an article when Matt was a freshman:

Here is more information about Tahlequah, Oklahoma:

Matt is also a coach's son: (Love those coach's sons!)

and it seems Matt plays Tight End in Football:

Update on Qualls from the Tulsa World

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

No DI offers yet. Still some teams looking at him and Colorado State has gotten in late. He has a number of DII offers.

He averaged 23.4 points 13.5 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game in class 5A.
