It was announced earlier today that 7-0, 265 lb freshman center Zisis Sarikopoulos would be leaving UAB for more playing time. Prior to joining UAB, he had a strong international background. He played for the Under-18 Greek National Team which finished second in the '07 Euro Championships. He was selected to compete at the Jordan Brand All-American Classic in New York City by Michael Jordan as the MVP of Greece. And he was once selected as the Greece Under-16 Most Valuable Player. Fran Fraschilla said he would've "easily been a top 50 recruit" if he had played high school basketball in the US. Other suitors at the time were Boston College, St. Louis, Florida and Kentucky. Scouting reports indicate he is raw but quick for his size. They go on to say that he is more physical than the prototypical European player. There are some questions as to his adjustment to the speed of the game. Don't know if WSU would look at him. But given his size and the international angle, I thought I would mention him.
