Dubois, a 6-3, 170 lb point guard from Westchester High in Los Angeles, has asked to be released from his letter of intent to Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Dubois signed in the fall. Since then, the assistant coach who recruited him left to take the head assistant's job at Southern Illinois. Then, SMU signed two more point guards in the late signing period including Paul McCoy, who was ranked the #10 point guard in the country by Scout.
Dubois made the Los Angeles Times first team All-City this past season. He got looks from Stanford, UNLV, Utah and New Mexico State before signing with SMU. Scout and Rivals 2 star.
Coach Matt Doherty has not made a decision on whether to grant the release from his letter of intent. The paperwork was filed with the NCAA on May 4th, and the school has 15 days to render a decision.
Not sure if WSU would pursue Dubois, but I think the fact that he might be a 4 year eligible point guard and he committed to a school in the region makes him someone to watch.
