  • Malik Stith to St. John's (again)

This New York native is a strong and quick 5-11 point guard who led his East Mecklenburg (NC) team to the State 4A Championship. He will prep next year at Bridgton Academy and is now in the class of 2009. Was Charlotte Observer's player of the year and a Associated Press 1st team pick for North Carolina.

He has an offer from St. John's and looks from WSU, Louisville, Winthrop, George Mason and Hofstra.

Stith will not be going to St. Johns. Stith's relations with St. John's unraveled during the last couple of weeks and St. Johns has withdrawn it's offer. No information on Stith's future plans. I'll be putting him back on the board.

An older article about New York guards but well worth the read:

                      Link

"They've just got that appeal, that New York City mentality that is just so attractive,'' said (Coach Bobby)Cremins, a Bronx native. "They're street tough, street knowledgeable, just a tremendous feel for the game. They just seem to have no flaws. They're fearless and totally confident in what they're doing out there."
"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
                      -John Wooden
