According to GregSwaim.com a common theme is D-1 schools are afraid Lane will go high in the baseball draft and if they sign him in November, they will lose him. I have no idea if WSU has this concern but it might be the case.

Message board talk from a friend says he will wait til spring. He is planning on playing basketball. ORU, Missouri State and Central Arkansas would allow him to play both basketball and baseball.

I'm sure WSU would too. Remember a certain other player that was gonna do both?

Yes. But I get the feeling we're not pushing hard on Lane. I think we want a frontliner if possible.

I think we need a big guy too. 6-10 on up would be nice. Especially if that 6-10 was a PF, not a true center.

Lane will not sign with a professional baseball team if he were to get drafted. He wants to play college basketball next year. He is really high on Wichita State but the shockers have seem to have backed off of him lately.

I've also heard we've backed off some, probably due to wanting a taller player. It's been said we have more interest in his teammate, Stuart Sullivan.

Adams has stated several times that he wants to play D-1 basketball. Perhaps basketball coaches think Lane is underestimating his baseball bonus value.

I still really like him. I know we'd probably prefer a SF, but this kid really impressed at the WSU camp. Somebody is going to get a heck of a player.

My choice is a quality SF to sign. However, did you notice how many solid 6'11" plus players that Gonzaga has this year? Was it 4? Yikes, they are tall!!! Maybe just signing the very best player we can find at the 3 or 4 would be a possibility?

According to the Gonzaga roster 3 players at 6'11" one at 7'00 and one at 7''5". They are some healthy looking kids.
