Yeah then he would manage to get in a game for 2 minutes and take 3 3 pt shots and lose his man on d every single time.

Okay Jay, I will take a shot at it.

          1) We have offers out, but a lack of commitment so far tells me they are not real excited about it at this point in time.

          2) No clear cut path is paved for EO at this time, and I think the end of May is decision time regarding whether to keep fishing or cut bait on him.

If we cut our ties with EO at the end of May, we will try to get some kind of replacement for him, but what type of selection will be available at that time is questionable, to say the least.

IMO, we need a 6'9" power forward first.
Then we need Orukpe or replacement 5 man. (to have 2 true centers).

We don't need any SF's, IMO.

I'm not sure I can remember the last effective 6'9" power forward we have had at WSU. Have we ever had one. The BookEnds were both 6'8" I believe and were not getting that quality of a player in this late signing period I don't think.

I would be perfectly happy with a solid 6'8" to 6'9" center or 5 and an athletic 6'7" power forward and finding that at this point will be a challenge.

Unless he's a good outside shooter, a 6'9" PF is a center in the MVC.

Aaron Ellis has the potential to be a great PF. With some added muscle and a few post moves, who in the MVC could guard him?

All of the talk of a PF confuses me a bit. Is Clemente going to be the C instead of PF? Or are you just looking for additional depth?

BTW, if I were to pick one guy from the WSU team to add to my Jays, Clemente would be the guy.

Clemente is an undersized PF who occasionally gets into foul trouble and he will be a senior next year. So we are looking for 1 - additional depth and 2 - someone who will be able to step in for Ramon after next year.

I think the real concern (for me anyway) is that we may not have a servicable center to begin the season.

                    - Durley needs serious work on his defense, rebounding and conditioning.

                    - Stutz will need time to acclimate to D1.

                    - We're still waiting on EO.

So I don't think we are in dire need of a PF, per se (we have Griskenas, Ellis and Durley to backup Ramon at the 4), but having a guy that could start at center to start the year, and provide depth at C and PF later on would be nice. That's the main reason I was hoping we'd get Abdul Herrera. He's not a star by any means, but he would have been the type of player I described above and would only be competing for PT for two seasons.

Good points Royal. The status of EO is especially iffy.

PF shouldn't be a major issue at this point. We have Clemente, Durley, Griskenas and Ellis capable of playing there. Durley seems to be the other C as well with Stutz. SF is Hawk and maybe Ellis.

IF Ehimen doesn't get here then I wouldn't mind bringing in another post. If he does get here I don't think it's a top priority.

I could see a wing being brought in if any are left out there.

Sexton's comments last week would lead one to believe that if the EO situation doesn't work out favorably, there is another choice waiting in the wings.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Sexton needs to establish a track record before we weigh his words too heavily. He is getting used to the job and needs to feel his way. Hopefully EO will be here next year.

Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic, but if EO doesn't get out of Nigeria, I'm looking for WSU to sign something like a 6'10" JuCo player who blocks a lot of shots. A player like that could see huge opportunities at WSU.

This recruiting class needs either Orukpe or Knox.

While new, I'm fairly confident that Sexton knows what the words leaving his mouth mean and how they may be interpreted by interested parties.
