The four players were sophomore 6-9 forward Adam Knollmeyer (Linn, MO), sophomore 6-5 guard Dustin Maguire (Edwardsville,IL), freshman 6-4 forward Anthony Mitchell (East St. Louis, IL) and freshman 6-7 forward Marcus Relphorde (Homewood, IL).

Knollmeyer was a 2 star Scout/3 star Rivals recruit out of high school. He originally committed to Missouri before signing with St. Louis.

Maguire was a 3 star Scout/3 star Rivals recruit out of high school. Other schools interested in him at that time were Vanderbilt, Nebraska and Purdue.

Mitchell was a 2 star Scout recruit out of high school. Other schools pursuing him at that time were Illinois State and SE Missouri State.

Relphorde was a 2 star Scout/2 star Rivals recruit out of high school. Other schools interested back then were California, Depaul, Indiana, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, San Diego, UNLV, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.

There's some message board talk that Maguire might stay at St. Louis as a team manager. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be any information on where any of the four may be headed.

If the kids have their scholarships pulled and are ASKED to leave, do they still have to sit out a year? That seems a little unfair.

SLU had been charitable in recent years, offering full rides to kids better suited for mid- or low-major programs. Soderberg cluttered up his roster with players with low upsides.

SLU is not a mid-major program? When did that happen? I guess when they hired Majerus.

Mid-major

It's been so long since St. Louis had much excitement in college basketball that maybe their hack columnist has lost his perspective, but it sounds as if he believes the A-10 moved beyond "mid-major" status by ranking 7th in conference RPI last year. Either that or he's just hopelessly confused, which would not be surprising if he follows a team located west of the Mississippi River that plays as one of fourteen basketball teams in the Atlantic 10 conference. What's up with that?

But if the A-10 is no longer a "mid-major," that must mean the Valley has long since graduated from the mids. Even in a down year last season, the MVC ranked 8th in conference RPI, just behind the mighty A-10; and the two previous years the Valley was 6th each time, surpassing the moderately-Big 12 once and the Pac 10 once (vs. 10th and 11th for what at that point was still presumably the mid-major A-10.)

Marcus Relphorde is at Indian Hills CC in Ottumwa, Iowa. Rivals is showing we have interest in him as a 2009 recruit.

Many times when a recruit goes to a juco, Rivals appears to automatically lists some of the schools that were originally interested. In Relphorde's case however, we were not known to be involved with him before he signed with St. Louis. I think there is a good chance in is a current Shocker prospect.
