His form looks good. 26% doesn't concern me. That said, I have no inside track on how our coaches are ranking the point guards or how much emphasis they have or are giving to each one. They may now feel X is the best option.

Always nice to have backup options (even though they wouldn't say that to Lomax). VCU, UV and UCONN all in the mix for DeVoe

At this time in the summer, teams are fighting for visits and they have multiple players opting for those visits. Where players rank on the tree at each school will show up shortly. It sounds from Bossi and other recruiting analysts, that WSU sets up well in getting a visit from Lomax. We will know more by the end of August and September.

So is USF the University of San Francisco or the University of South Florida? Is his visit to Wichita State an official or unofficial?

South Florida and I would guess it'll be an official visit.

Xavier is also planning to visit Kent State. http://www.suntimeshighschoolsports....n-july-rewind/

This seems like a player we have a great chance to sign. He had offers from Iowa State and Mizzou (prior coaching staff), but Mizzou doesn't seem to have any interest and Iowa State has made him a Plan C. That leaves USF, Kent St, Tulsa, Valpo, Loyola, as our main competition. Kind of puzzling to me why this kid doesn't have more offers. He averaged 9 points, 5 assists per game on the EYBL, with a 2.5:1 A/TO ratio. Basically every school should have watched him at some point. Then he tore up the Victor Oladipo skills academy. Was top 10 in the camp for scoring and was first in assists per game against several top 100 players there. His story kind of reminds me of Fred out of high school. Isn't currently a great shooter but is a great distributor and managed to lead his high school team on a surprise run to win the Illinois state championship.

He does sound very much like Fred. Same body type as Fred as previously noted by @pinstripers. Being from Chicago I would be surprised if he doesn't know Fred's story very well. And if he doesn't he will know it well after his visit.

PrepHoopsIllinois caught up with Whitney Young 2018 point guard Xavier Castaneda to get the latest on his recruitment including a trio of official visits he has set up. Castaneda is coming off a strong July where he performed particularly well at the Victor Oladipo camp during the second live period.  He opened up quite a […]

Anybody got a prep hoops account?

So he resembles FVV and comes from Illinois, and he carries the X-Man's name. How can he NOT be right for the Shocks?

Impressed with his anticipation & court IQ. He has the quickness that is similar to Harris. Seemed to have good form on jump shot but may need to extend his range when he gets to college. Did attack the big on a pick and roll like Fred used to do for us.

I haven't seen anybody as quick as Harris.
