  • Keyontae Johnson 6'6 SG/SF 2018 to Florida

Wichita State extended an offer to 6'5 Keyontae Johnson from Bradenton, Florida today. Keyontae plays for one of the better AAU teams in the country, Boo Williams. He averaged 9 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field during the Nike EYBL season. Keyontae holds offers from Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Providence, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and South Florida. I've seen Keyontae listed as both a shooting guard and as a small forward. He's ranked #118 in the C/O 2018 by Rivals, #110 by 247 Sports and #91 by Scout.

Keyontae will take his first official visit to Wichita State this weekend. Top 150 on both Rivals and 247. https://twitter.com/coreyevans_10/st...05297819439104

You think this is bad weather for Kansas? I was out at mid-day and I thought it was really pleasant. In fact, it contrasts very nicely with the visit mother nature paid to Keyontae's home town of Bradenton, Flroida this past weekend.

...or the day that 3G came to interview here. The weather sucked that day, and he still stuck around.

Can you believe that was over ten years ago? In some ways, that seems like ages ago...and in other ways, not that long ago.

Yeah, now if we were having a horizontal snow storm on September 15th that would be a SMH moment for sure.

Coach Marshall enters his 11th Season this very Season. How many other Programs have tried to lure him away? How many opposing Coaches would tell recruits of joint interest that he would never last here anywho? When he arrived here to interview, the Kansas weather did not cooperate. Some of the recruits under Coach T. bailed out that year before a game was even played. If I recall, at his first Valley Lew tourney he got rang up for a T for not saying anything, but rather storming off from the ref.

Now take a look at a Coach that is in the top 10 on many lists of the best among the very best. We now are in a much better Conference called the AAC. We are now getting visits from prized recruits such as K. Johnson and hoping to appear in more futuristic Final 4's. Now That my SN brethren is called Progress with a capital P and the best is yet to come IMO. Yes, Season 11 will be one to remember and number !!, LS will quarterback us in winning fashion. If Shocker History continues to repeat itself, watch out!!!!!!!!!!!

Any idea if they took this kid to the volleyball match? Was it an impressive atmosphere?

It was a very good atmosphere. I'm guessing it was about 3,500 or perhaps a bit more, which considering the opponent and other factors was a bit disappointing. However, the 3,500 that were there brought there A game. It was a great match and a great outcome.

There weren't many students in attendance which is the norm for Volleyball matches but the ones that were there were great.

I think one of the teams from Sunrise showed up as a group and sat in the lower rows of the NW corner of the court. Not 100% that is who they were but my wife thought she saw Sunrise on of the guys T-Shirts.

                            Updated: Actual attendance was 2,857.

The team was setting up top but not sure if he was with them. Rodrick Brown made the big screen showing off his dance moves.
