  • Riley Battin 6'10 PF/C 2018 to Utah

According to Scout, Wichita State is one of the schools recruiting 6'10 Riley Battin from Oak Park, California. Battin also lists Utah, Colorado, Davidson, Virginia, Vandy and Northwestern as schools working the hardest. Riley is playing for Earl Watson Elite on the Under Armour circuit; averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds per game. He also is shooting 31% from 3-point range with 6 makes in 12 games. Currently holds offers from Utah, Northwestern, Yale, Utah State, Lehigh, Portland, San Francisco, UCSB and American. It seems he is friends with Erik Stevenson and could possibly be someone that Erik may be trying to sway to join him in Wichita.

The three-star prospect is terrific offensively from midrange and in due to his ability to score facing up with his jumper or using his footwork and touch to score in the paint.
“I’ve spent hours and hours in the gym working,” Battin said. “I’m not the most athletic but my skill makes up for it. I’m working on my athleticism but I know when I hit the court I’m the most skilled player.”
Battin listed Davidson, Utah, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wichita State*and Virginia*as some of the schools he’s hearing from the most.
“I’m going to play through July, see what other offers I get, and after that cut my list to five and take my visits,” he said.

Listed by different recruiting profiles as 6'8" to 6'11".

He is listed by VerBal Commits and ESPN as a 4*.

He reminds me of Paul Miller because he has nice back to basket post up moves, nice Facing the basket moves, and can stroke the 3. However, he has such nice footwork that he actually reminds me of Paul when he was a Junior or Senior at WSU, not so soon after high school. Paul was a Freshman project. Riley looks ready to contribute to a team that plays a Top 50 schedule.

Reminds me of the swing post who played for Wisconsin when they beat undefeated Kentucky 2 years ago.

Frank Kaminsky. I'm surprised I remembered the name.

I see Frank the Tank and some Derek Willis of Kentucky.

I like the fact that he can dribble and has a few moves to get an open jump shot. Athleticism isn't super important when you're 6'10", can dribble, have some post moves and a good bball IQ.

Like the way this kid passes the ball. Pretty strong for a high school post player.

I know its dangerous to make snap judgements from 3 minute highlight clips, but this kid excites me the most of any of the '18 prospects we are heavily recruiting. That size and skill isn't easy to find. He'd be beast at WSU.
