  • Mike'l Simms 6'5 SG/SF 2017 JUCO Offered to VCU

6'5 Mike'l Simms from Richmond, Virginia. Mike'l played at Cowley College last season averaging 14 points a game as a freshman. It appears he will be a 2017 recruit with 3 seasons of eligibility remaining. Mike'l has landed offers from St. Bonanventure, Youngstown St and Loyola-Marymount all within the last week. Wichita State just recently started showing interest.

Sophomore to be. He could be eligible to go D1 next season though. He received an offer from East Carolina yesterday.

Unless he is a defensive stalwart, which he may be, I think we can do better

We're surely not gonna bring in 6 or 7 high school kids. This guy averaged 14 as a freshman, surely can expect 18-20 as a soph, what's wrong with that?

Nevermind - Mike'l is definitely 2017. Texas Tech offered today as well. Can't imagine WSU wanting a wing unless McDuff doesn't come back.

I hope WSUs marketing and promo department watches these recruits twitter accounts. That "striped" arena picture appears to be the most popular among recruits. Let's do it more often

Maybe a hedge on the McDuff decision?

I could see this, especially given that he has three years left. The Shocks have lots of quality bigs for next season, and their main question at the 4/5 spots will be how to get guys minutes.

But they aren't as heavy on mid-sized SG/SF types. Brown really hasn't shown the handles to play SG, so until he does, he'll play SF; and Keyser is still an unknown quantity at SG although it would be nice for him to fit in there, especially given the uncertainty about Reaves's shoulder situation.

Someone who can add insurance for next year and then be able to step right into a bigger role thereafter, when Brown and Frankamp will definitely be gone (and Shamet may become a candidate for early departure), certainly seems like a sensible fit.

I agree. Looks a bit more athletic than Ben to my highly untrained eye, but that could be as much about the competition as anything else.
