The coach was a real big problem. We only see a small amount of footage, but with a coach like that, I'm not sure that this situation is on the kids. They need someone to lead them or khaos will break out.

              • A general question for my shocker enthusiast. With us recruiting so many talented players, how many official visits can we give out in a single season?

I believe it's 13. Not sure what the calendar year is for that.

                  • I believe the year coincides with the NCAA Recruiting Calendars which run from August 1 through July 31st.

An official visit is a visit in which the the member institution pays for all or part of the cost of the visit. Each prospective student athlete is allowed to take up to 5 official visits (that includes D-1 and D-2 combined) and can only take one official visit per school.

Men's Basketball is allowed to host 24 official visits per rolling two-year period. So the maximum number of official visits a program can host in any given year is 24 - the number of official visits hosted in the prior year.

Official visits shall not exceed 48 hours in length.

The earliest date for an official visit for Men's Basketball is Janaury 1st of the student athlete's Junior year.

Official visits are not allowed during dead periods.

Unofficial visits are those totallly paid for the the student athlete or his family. No limit on the number but for Men's basketball they are not allowed during dead periods or during the month of July.

                    • As of today official visits can be taken between now and Sunday, November 5th. There is a dead period from November 6th through November 9th. I assume this probably has something to do with the early LOI signing period running from November 8th-15th.

There is a short dead period from December 24th-26th.

There are only about 43 days each year that are dead periods plus it appears a student athlete is not allowed to take an unofficial visit during July. Not sure if that prohibition applies to official visits in July outside of the dead periods which is about half the month. As a practical matter I doubt if many coaches would do visits in July because that is a big month for attending NCAA Certified Evaluation Events.

                      • Thanks for the knowledge from all that have responded. Makes it tough to go for kids you are shooting for the stars for when you do not think you are the lead school. We have so many prospects to sign this year that the limit will make these decisions harder for the coaching staff.

The Shocks probably didn't use very many last year. Asbjorn did not make a visit and I doubt they needed to use an official on Samajae. I think we may have used one on Dylan Kountz and most likely one on Rodgerick. Beyond that I don't know. Of course, 3G has to keep enough visits in reserve for next year too out of his rolling 2-year limit.
