Thanks for the correction, xaz -- slip of the finger, perhaps because I had just been reading a story about Teddy Ballgame, a/k/a "Ted F'ing Williams, the (self-described) greatest hitter who ever lived." I'm sure Yankees fans and quite a few sportswriters thought that Williams didn't need to turn to the dark side; he was already there.

Different story for Hawkins, maybe, at least in the eyes of WSU's coaches when they recruited him and stuck with him for a long time. But he ended up there anyway.
