glad to see one of my old threads as Art Bunch revived. It will be interesting to see if this kid can do anything for Memphis. From the outside, their program looks to be in a lot of trouble due simply to lack of talent. With only 13 scholarships and Memphis needing bodies to contribute it may not be a good investment if he can't get on the court right away.

One year of eligibility remaining. He has his limitations, but he shot 77% around the rim last season, 32% from three, and blocked 3.2 shots per game. Those are Summit League numbers, but I think he has something to offer in the AAC.

He'd need to eat my wife's cooking this summer to thicken him up, but yeah.

I watched him quite a bit when he was at Arkansas. He could be useful and even very effective in spots, but against teams with really quick guards and/or 4s/5s that can step out on the perimeter, he’s next to unplayable.

Edit: re-reading that, it came off more negative than I intended. For the times where the match up is right, he very well may be worth having, but he’s not playing 25 min per game in the AAC. We’d need other options (say KP coming back?! Please?)

This would be tallest Shocker ever if signed.

He could stand on his ‘tippy-toes’ and make change off the top of the backboard. Yipes Stripes Beechnut Gum!

                He grew an inch overnight...

"Vanover, who is 7'6 and the tallest player in college basketball, has entered the transfer portal. It comes after he averaged 12.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season."

"Vanover still has one year of eligibility remaining and will likely hope to use it on a team that can make the NCAA Tournament next season."

I could be wrong but I don’t think Bell played a minute as a point guard last year. I also didn’t see any skill last year that makes me think he is going to be a point guard this year unless we are totally desperate. I think he will be a solid shooting guard who will make a fair number of 3’s this year as a backup.

CV will make them a fine player.
