  • Sean Carter

His name was mentioned in another thread but wanted to give him one of his own. Not that WSU is on his list but in looking at his list I wonder if GM might go after him.

    http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=184&p=8&c=1&nid=2607678

    6'9", 205lb. PF/C.

If you analyze his list of schools, you'll see an obvious demarcation between "mids" who have offered but he has low interest and "highs" that he has medium interest but no offers.

If Denzel can't be persuaded, I could see this kid being the backup plan.

Carter ended up signing with Oregon State last year. With the head coaching change there, Carter is looking at transferring now. As previously noted, this was someone Marshall might have looked at last year. He received offers from Winthrop as well as Duquesne and South Florida before committing to Oregon State. As a freshman at Oregon State, he played in 29 games, averaged 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game and averaged 15.4 minutes per game. It looks like he's scheduled to visit UMass, with Tulane also in the picture. Rivals 3 star and Scout 2 star out of high school. He's now listed at 6-9, 225 lbs.

Carter cites homesickness as the reason he requested a release from Oregon State.

Makes the interest in Tulane and UMass somewhat curious in my opinion. They're closer to home, but they're not that close to home either. Carter is from North Carolina.

To me, closer to home means within driving distance. It shouldn't make any difference how close to home you are if you have to get on a plane to get there.

From message board talk, I expect him to end up at UMass.

Closer to home is sometimes given as an easy answer, but not the total picture of why somebody has decided to transfer.

Confirmation of the UMass talk from an Oregon State sports blog. No official announcement will be made until he completes his school work at Oregon State.
