      Landry a freshman.

Two years could be a heck of a rebuild.
It's a nightmare as it is presently set up. Probably will be different by then, of course.

Yeah, it creates a mess when you have that many graduate in the same class. Hopefully the following year would be a mix of transfers and jucos and not just freshman.

        • I have to think they may try redshirting Nurger again next year if it doesn't make us too thin at the 5. We're short on underclassmen bigs.

That's occurred to me as a plausible option, too, RS. If he was ready to do it this year, why not?

I was about to chime in on the omission of Allen from the soph group until I saw that someone had beaten me to the punch; but still, there's no doubt that as currently set up the numbers for next season are EXTREMELY skewed, probably more so than ever since the Marshall Plan got fully cranked up: by class, 0-7-4-3, if you include both Shamet and Reaves as freshmen on scholarship. (And yes, as anyone can see, 7+4+3 = 14.)

Edit: gotta believe that (a) the seven will be smaller by the time they become seniors, and (b) there will be a mix of almost every possibility to fill the hole: jucos, three-year jucos, freshmen, maybe even a graduate transfer (although probably not more than one of the latter, considering that the following class as currently constituted doesn't have a huge amount of space either). But then again, who knows what the roster will actually be at that point?

            • Pin - You may not mean what you said, but calling this future roster a "nightmare" is a word that dials up a bit more drama than is necessary. However, to be fair, there obviously will have to be some adjustments that will be necessary.

I'm very excited about the level of talent that is below the Junior level. Some of our Freshmen will be dynamite.

How bad can the rebuild be if you have upper-classmen in Landry, Markis and Peyton Allen? Not to mention the upside of Eric Hamilton and the incoming freshmen.

We're in good shape at the guard positions.

There is no center among that group, unless Rauno redshirts. Hamilton has the size, but his skillset is as a stretch-four. McDuffie is best at the three. Barney is an unknown. We have no freshman post players coming in next year, so there's also no depth. Yes, it's two years away, but with no seniors next year, Marshall will have one recruiting class to work it out. (Yes, I know things can change, but until they do, we have what we have.)

                  • the three headed monster next season will be Shack, Willis, and one of either Nurger or Hamilton?? (that would mean one of the last two could either redshirt or leave? I am assuming that Duff moves to the 4 next year.

                    • Do you guys see Hamilton coming back next year? I don't. But I've only seen the few minutes he's played this year. He just looks completely out of sorts. Might be athletic...but wow...where's the basketball IQ??? That junior high drive and subsequent charge the other night was the epitome of "not getting it" at all. Just my opinion...but this far...he does not look promising.

                      • I think Barney will be in the mix for time. He seemed to move well and decent hands from what I could tell but he was in for such a short time. I hope he does great things.

A 6'8 kid who can dunk over Wu Shock, shoot the three, finish at the rim better than anyone not named Fred or Markis, and who has a knack for rebounding doesn't look promising?

I know he still needs some work, exactly how much I don't know, but I would be pretty surprised if he isn't back next year.

Hamilton is go to be a major contributor in my opinion. Still has some rough edges, but those edges will round out with PT.
