Agreed. I don't know what some of you are talking about. Look at the muscle definition on his arms after the dunk. That's not a dude that has failed to hit the weight room.

    • Good news keeps rolling in about the future front court power players on our roster and in the near future. Willis highlights show quick explosiveness and aggressive take to the rim mentality. This in combination with low post and face up game, and a nice touch in the mid-range jumper scoring area. His coach talked about his hard working nature
and a love for playing the game in the Eagle article. His disadvantage will come in learning our system from scratch, while Rashard Kelly and Hamilton have a year or more experience. Both of these players have bounce and a desire to earn more playing time.

Should be a position that we are taller and more athletic next season (nothing against Evan), but they will all have to gain the gritty savvy hustle game of Wessel. Darrlyn has warned teammates to move out of the way because he is going to get the rebound, I' m glad our coaches won the recruiting battle for this prospect.

Women are still playing right now (6:30) so the game will start late.

Two of those FTs came in clutch time with 3 seconds left. Nothing but net. I would add that Jones JC played zone the entire game for the sole purpose of limiting his touches. He's nice.

                  • Willis could very well be another sleeper for us in due time and really shore up our inside game for next Season. I could see him at both the 4 and 5 and getting solid minutes. He brings rebounds for us to the table and maybe a mix of beastly Carl Hall tendencies and Cle points inside, but not the shooter from the 3-point line like Cle was. The 3,
4, and 5 slots will be improved but how do you replace 2-All American Seniors the same year at the guard slots?

You don't, but by committee 3G will get it all figured out because the 1 and 2 slot player development is one of his specialities in my opinion. In this case, we will have no Seniors starting but talented young players that will have a crash course under the Marshall Plan Learning Curve Process. It all takes time, just as it did when Baker and Fred first showed up here at 21st and Hillside as Freshmen.

We're going to reload. I actually think we have a shot of being better next year. We have Frankamp (who I think needs to go to a sports psychologist to deal with his performance anxiety at home), Payton Allen (transfer from A&M) and Landry. We have a JUCO point guard coming in next year who has the ability to run the point. We also have J. R. Simon, who probably isn't a long-term solution, but could lend valuable time and minutes where needed. We will be at least as big at SG next year and perhaps bigger at PG, with really good athletes.

As you can probably tell, my biggest concern is the PG position. As noted above, we have a number of choices. At the SG position, I think we're covered. Will we miss FVV and Baker? Of course, but you also have a whole horde of front-court sophomores and juniors coming back next year (including Darrlyn). I'm betting the existing will improve and the new will be good enough we will probably have a bit of a drop-off but should be really good by this time next year. The biggest challenge I see HCGM having is getting the two new JUCOs acclimated into our system.

Rashard, plus he brings an offensive threat. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Willis get minutes at the 4 either, although I have not idea how he does in regards to defensive and floor burns.

                            • CF will be fine at home...everyone is expecting him to score more, while his goal appears to be more geared towards fitting in, learning to run the team, playing better defense, and just doing all the little things coach Marshall demands. The offense will come.

In terms of semantics, the term "sleeper" is usually booted on here because 3G only brings in potential starters he once said. Thus, with Willis not being ordinary at all by being a first 10 at least Juco player, I still think he will be potentially much better than advertised at the Div. 1 level, with more under the hood than others might think even though you and I seem to already think that. Thus, a 'keeper' may be more realistic for you, but both terms seem to work for me.
