As we ponder on how the talented new recruits will do for us next Season, Willis might be the very one that could step in as a starter either from jump street or shortly thereafter.

I must have watched the worst 10 minutes stretch of the game. And I have no clue how he's a 70% FT shooter.

I'm not down playing you skills to evaluate basketball players (10 min. is a low sample size) and I have only seen his high lite tape which means that I can't evaluate either. However, Gregg rates him very highly when talks about him. His numbers and the high light video (which is a poor tool to use for evaluation) show him to be a better shooter than Carl Hall. I think that Juco bigs have to be evaluated differently because of the way Jucos play maybe.

If this is the case, he's going to have to be very, VERY good right out of the gate. This would mean he takes Shaq's 5 spot or Rashard/Markis 4 spot. I'm not saying that can't happen, but if it does, our front court is going to be killer.

Valid observations. MM may play best at the 3 but then Brown is solid there too. I do think Willis is very solid but it is not unusual for our Juco players to be rotation players as Juniors and starters as Seniors. It sure does not hurt us this Season when Brown and MM are both playing at the same time because they are both so versatile and productive on both sides of the court. I really hope Kelly and Nurger keep developing as future upperclassmen.

Last but not least, the upside of Hamilton could really be nice for us next Season. Once he learns our System and the Marshall Plan for him, he could really be an asset for us. With this said, I also hope he emerges some yet this Season as he gets his opportunities to get playing time. He can shoot the rock, score, and rebound and you just never know when game time opportunities will come knocking his way.

Excellent points. I will readily admit I am a little down on the whole recruiting/fan interest these days, especially here.


Next year we bring in a Pete Maravich/Ron Baker clone, an improved Carl Hall and Tekele Cotton with offensive skills to add to an already loaded lineup.


I just think that diminishes what others have already accomplished. I also think it makes us think more about what might be than what actually is.


I get that is what fans do, and I am just as guilty as anyone. I just would like to see less of it that's all. I 100% trust what Gregg is doing, and I'm excited for every kid that wants to be involved with this program right now.
