So if we sign him, are we going to play with our Willy or not?

The question is why is it so hard to sign someone who wants to play with a premiere backcourt?

Minutes. The same reason Tevin left, is the thing we have to fight when recruiting.

Except .. quality minutes for a big are there for the taking. Tevin wasn't a "big" he was competing more with ZB and RK. A large shot-blocking center with any talent would step in and get quality minutes with WSU.... and spend a lot of time on the floor with multiple All-Americans.

Yep. Just as soon as he outplays Bush and Kelly, he can play backup to Morris. 13 minutes a game is the absolute best he can do.

Deal is anyone coming in has to play within the system... Defense... Rebounding... Things Marshall preaches... That's why the kids we have already have step over anyone that might come in...

If I'm a confident bball player, I look at the current players and think I can dislodge Kelly and/or Wamukota for playing time. They were role players, every team has them. There's not a team out there that doesn't have role players coming back competing for minutes.

We live in a world where everyone wants guarantees and promises.... Marshall doesn't do any of that... That's what may make it harder to land certain kids... Which begs to question whether those type of kids are worth the hardship

I can see Wamukota getting passed by a similar guy with the same footwork for screen. They would just have to rebound better than him, and not travel. But Wamukota knows the system way to well as a role player to be passed up. I can't see it from the name on this thread. And even if he does, he's gotta do us one better and beat R. Kelly.

Just as a note, I see alot of people talking about shot blocking. It really doesn't matter with GM system. Our system is going to deny post ups, and penetration. Anyone driving on WSU is going to have to change their shot. The shot-blocking ability is just fun stuff for the NBA, and FVV. Lol, sorry Frank Mason.

I'm not ready to say anyone we have coming back next year has an automatic leg up on anyone coming in regarding defense and rebounding. I think the fact that they all struggle at it is exactly why we have to go get someone.

The logic on minutes does not always hold true. If it did, you would not see multiple 5 star recruits signing with the UK's, Duke's, KU's, every year knowing that these schools are knee deep in talent and where actual minutes certainly might be at a premium.

Besides, do we really want a 5 recruit who is afraid he is not good enough to earn his minutes the hard way - by beating out our present competition?

Plus, it certainly did not appear to hurt GM's signing some very great looking guards this year who have to know that their minutes are definitely going to be limited playing behind FVV and Baker. Of course in their case, they are going to be schooled by experts.
