He is obviously very athletic, and will be a very good off-ball, gap-man defender. Just like Kel'.
The on ball steals he gets in H.S. will not happen in College. Sadly. (Think back to WSU V KY where FVV did similar stuff and got penalized.)
Also, his scoop shots at the rim will need to be taken out of his game. (Think Wayne Seldon at KU [aka total trash].)
He is very score first minded, and as a S.G. he can be coached to play a 2 or 3 with passing eyes. But I won't ever trust his instincts at the 1.
Overall a very good fit for WSU GM Gap-Man defense, and a great scorer. I'd love to have him.
Haven't looked into Walker yet.

Seventh Woods is more of a 2G. And he's a superstar already. Not that we won't be able to sign a burger boy someday, but the reality is are looking for a P5 experience (or if you are a Crouton fan you would say a "P6 experience" maybe in the "BIG EAST").
I think it's notable that Walker is rated as a 2* player which basically means he's in high school, yet he has multiple scholarship offers from a bunch of big conference schools. Obviously the coaches know this guy is a player even if the recruiting service nerds haven't figured it out.
His tape looks good. Notice how he's a lot like Fred in that he sees everything and he is patient and probes the defense. It's a key for a pg the way college basketball is played today. Right now there's a long shot clock so ball handlers have the time to be patient and look for the weakness. You don't always have to force it. That's what makes Fred so good, he just keeps probing until he senses the vulnerability and then exploits it.

Thoughts on his goals for the next step in his career and how it fits with Wichita State are his desire to "be a coach on the court" and not have to look to the coach every time down the court for a play. If he's as smart as FVV, and that's a huge unknown at this juncture, WSU is a good fit for him.
That being said, his desire to play in a system that offers more fast-paced play that allows him to come off a ball screen and make plays early in the possession would seem to be at odds with 3G's offensive playbook.
The fact that Gregg is going to Indiana to watch and talk to the kid personally would seem to me that Marshall is less worried about C.J.'s desire to play in an up-tempo offense and sees him as a true PG that might one day be able to run his team.

I know we've tried the Kenny Manigault/Corey Henderson type, but look at the line of successful PG's at WSU: Matt B, Clevin, Joe, Malcolm, FVV...
Would love to see this kid in the Black & Yellow."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
